Mrs. Doris Capon drove to John Day and took care of the children at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Harris while thev took the baby to Portland for checkups. Mrs. Capon returned home Saturday evening. The work of fencing In the Monument tennis court, which was started a few years back, is nearly completed Tim Kelly is doing most of the work. There is new park lawn beside it, with fireplaces, tables and benches. Mrs. Helen Holmes arrived last Wednesday evening and stayed overnight with Mrs. Hat tie Rebenstorf for the night, then went out to her ranch home. She had spent the winter and spring in the Santa Barbara, Calif, area. Mrs. Darlene Boyer took her mother, Mrs. Edna Moore, to Bend last Wednesday for a med ical checkup. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cantweil and Mrs. Freda Johnson drove to Heppner last week for dental work on Monday morning. Mrs. Freda Tubb and son, Ricky, have moved into the low er Farrens house. Mrs. Mabel Corley is visiting in Portland with some of her children. Mr. arid Mrs. Donald Logan and children have moved back to Portland. He was a high school teacher here. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Scott and sons, Robert and Robin, visited in Long Creek on Saturday eve ning. Water Supply Termed Excellent Excellent water supplies are in prospect for water users this spring and summer in Gilliam, Umatilla and Morrow counties according to a report released today by the Soil Conservation Service, Portland. Rapid melt of mountain snow occurred early in April due to warm temperatures. Snow re mains at only the higher eleva tion snow courses such as Toll gate and Lucky Strike. However, the snowpack is still 80 percent of normal for this time of year. Generous amounts of rain were received in the area dur ing April. The U. S. Weather Bureau reported 139 percent of normal rainfall. Principal reservoirs are now full or nearly full. Cold Springs contains 49,700 acre feet while McKay reservoir is holding 70,800 a.f. Streamflow was excellent dur ing April according to the U. S. Geological Survey. The Umatil la near Pendleton produced 135,700 a.f. during the month Trail's End' Bronc Still Going Strong "Trail's EJid," saddle bronc which will appear in Heppner at the intercollegiate rodeo on May 30-31 and June 1, as re ported last week, Is still going strong, according to the May 15 issue of Rodeo Sports News. The bronc is reputedly one of the best in the nation, and the Rodeo Sports News item had this to say: "Rodeo fans from Montana who attended the Spokane, Wash., Diamond Spur rodeo are still bragging about the perfor mance there of Trail's End, now owned by the Big Bend Rodeo Company. Trail's bucked off one of the best bronc riders in the game today, Bill Smith of Cody, Wyo." Mr. and Mrs. C E.
