Wheeler Golfers Win at Heppner

1. the Wheeler High golfers ov
er powered the Heppner and
Umatilla golf teams in a three-
way meet played on the Willow
Creek course at Heppner.
Despite the cool breezy wea
ther. some fine scores were
turned in by several of the golf
ers from each school. Most of
the boys found the course much
to their liking and were able
to keep their shots under con
trol at all times. Low score for
the day was recorded by Wall
of Wheeler, followed closely by
Kilkenny of Heppner and York
of Umatilla.
On Friday. May 9. the Fal
con team will journey to John
Day for a match with Grant Un
ion and on Monday will return
to John Day to take part In the
Eastern Oregon District meet for
Class A-2 and B schools. The
winning team and low score
will participate in the State
High School Tournament in
Portland.

Don Bird, Jerry Luther, Rich
Boyles, Ron Bowman, and Bill

of Heppner. A successful White
Elephant auction was held with
Dick Sargent as the auctioneer.
Pie and coffee were served. Pro
ceeds of this party are for the
Scholarship Fund.
