Marty Boyajian, John Neely Married in Ceremony Here A lat afternoon ivremony at d.uu p.m.. on Saturday, April 12, united in marriage Miss Mary Margaret (Marty) BoyaJ lan and John Allan Neely at St. Patrick"! Catholic church In iieppner. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. James P. Healy of Heppner, and the Broom's par ents are Mr. and Mrs, Gordon weely of Maupin. Father Raymond Beard offici ated at the ceremony performed before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladiolus and yellow chrysanthemums. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length gown of white organza and lace with attached shoulder length veil. For her bridal bou quet she carried a bouquet of yellow roses on a white missal. Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Alene Kay Boyajian, and serving as bridesmaid was another sister, Sheila Ann Healy. Both attendants wore Identical yellow chiffon gowns fashioned in the empire style and both wore matching head pieces. Attending the groom as best man was Bill Swanson, close friend of the eoom. from Salem Ushers for the ceremony were Larry Barr of Monmouth, and Dovle ConnelL of La Grande. serving as altar boys were Bill Boyd of Pendleton and Jerry Gentry of Henpner. Organ music for the ceremony was iurnisned by busie Keed ol La Grande, with vocal selections presented by Bill Kenny of Heppner. Mrs. Neely. mother of the goom. attended the ceremony in a light blue lace dress with match i n g accessories. Mrs. Healy, mother of the bride, chose a pale yellow suit. Both mothers wore yellow corsages, Friends and relatives of the bridal couple greeted them at a reception following the ceremo ny, held at the home of the bride parents. Those assisting with the re ceptlon were Mrs. James Daly of Pendleton, grandmother of the bride, who poured coffee. and Mrs. Margaret Healy of Heppner, also a grandmother of the bride, served punch, with Mrs. Darrell Jones, sister of the groom from The Dalles, serving the wedding cake. For her going away ensemble the bride chose a dress of con trasting navy and white. The newlyweds are now at home In La Grande, where both are students at Eastern Oregon College of Education. Friends and relatives of the couple attended the ceremony from La Grande, Pendleton, and Maupin, as well as many from the nearby local areas. Milk Sans Souci Plans Reception for Friday Sans Soucl Rebekah Lodge will hold initiation services for one new member during its regular lodge meeting this Fri day evening, May 16, at 8:00 p.m., in the IOOF hall. Followng the initiation and lodge meeting a reception will be held honoring Mrs. Opal Cook, who currently serves the lodge as noble grand and also holds the grand lodge office of Outside Guardian for the Re bekah Assembly of Oregon. Several state lodge officers are expected to attend the re ception as well as friends and members of other nearby lodg es. I Party Honors Girl On Fifth Birthday Small friends and playmates of Donna Munkers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Munkers, gathered for a birthday party at the Munkers home last Mon day afternoon honoring Donna on the occasion or ner linn birthday. Mrs. Munkers served refresh ments of birthday cupcakes and ice cream and youngsters spent the afternoon watching Donna open her gifts and playing. Helping Donna celebrate the big occasion were Sheridan Gray, Sheridan Sweek, Darcy Hollomon, Rita Lovgren, Ginny McRoberts, Cindy, Lori and Tra cy Ruhl. Greg, Matt, Tom, Kar en and Kris Rasmussen, Chuck and Terry Methvin, and Jackie Anderson. Mothers of some of the young guests present were Mrs. Joan Gray, Mrs. Jean Ruhl, Mrs. Joan Rasmussen, Mrs. Alice Methvin and Mrs. Stella McCarty. After the reading of a poem, in ner rtonor, "Miracle or Love," by Mrs. Bill Johnson, the honor guest unwrapped many lovely ana usciui gilts. Plans were discussed for as sisting the Elks Lodge enter tain the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at the annual dance Friday evening. M Altar Society Plans For Summer School Plans for church summer school at St. Patrick's Catholic church were discussed at the last meeting of St. Patrick's Al tar Society on Tuesday evening, May 6. Summer classes will be held the week of June 2-7. A breakfast for first commun ion class was scheduled for Sun day, June 8. Following the meeting a pink and blue shower was held for Mrs. Bill Kenny. GERALD ROOD Roods Complimented On 25th Anniversary At Evening Reception A large gathering of friends and relatives called at the American Legion hall on Fri day evening, May 9, to extend congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald C. Rood on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniver sary. About 75 guests attended Centering the reception table was a yellow and white decor ated three-tiered cake, prepared by Mrs. R. G. Watkins. Floral arrangements of mock orange blossoms and bridal wreath, yellow iris and white lilacs were used about the rooms. Many lovely gifts and a money tree honored the couple. Directing the arrangemen t s were Mrs. Edna Gay of Ashland, mother of Mrs. Rood, and Mrs. Oris Crisp of Heppner. Cake was served by Mrs. Pat Watson of Medford; coffee and tea were poured by Mrs. Larry Cook; Mrs. Nona Sowell presided at the punch bowl; Mrs. Elsa Leathers was in charge of the gift table, and Mrs. Bruce Griffith attend ed the guest book. Little Dee Dee Rood assisted her mother in opening the gifts. Oerald and Betty Rood have made their home in Heppner since 1956. They were married May 9, 1944, at Draper chapel in White Temple Baptist church in San Diego, Calif., where Jerry was stationed with the Navy. They first resided in Hep pner for 1 years, while with the Oregon Game Commission, moved to Kinzua for a 10-year period, then returned here in 1956.
