Children will pa rade through town and arrive at the school grounds at 10 30 for the egtf hunt. A number of priz es will be awarded and each child will receive something. The egg hunt In sonsored by the Lions Club. The club has been cullccling scrap metal to sell to raise funds for the sid ing on their building, located west of Irrigon, on the old high way. There will be an Easter Sun rise Service, Sunday morning at ti:.t0 m. at the football field. After the sorvliv the Baptist and Assembly of God churchi-s will each be serving an Easter breakfast. Sunday schools In the com munity are planning programs for the morning service. The As sembly of God voung pi-ople will present a Cantata entitled "No Greater Love". Thursday at 7:30 p.m. there will be a communion service at the Assembly of God. On Good Friday there is to be a special servlie at the Baptist Church. I'aslor Herbert Vaughn has given an Invitation to the Assembly of Cod and others or the com munity to attend. Mrs. Jack Lovd is making n survey in North Morrow county for the Oregon Department of Employment, to determine available manpower and em ployment needs in this area. She will cull at each home In North Morrow county. Residents are urged to cooperate in the inter view, all Information is confi dential. Mrs. Ewing Hynd will make the survey in Lexington and lone, while Mrs. Arthur Vance Is working In the south ern part of the county. The sur vey Is federally iinancea. nirx. By EVA HAMLETT IONE The fiftieth anniver sary of the American Legion was observed Wednesday, March at lone, when the Legion Auxiliary of Tost No. 95 enter tained at a pot luck dinner for members of the post, the aux iliary and guests. Tables were decorated in a festive mood with centerpieces of red poppies, made by the veterans, and accented with a happv birthday theme. Following the dinner a pro gram was presented. McCurdy introduced 'The Choralettes" of lone High school and their dir ector, Darrel James, who sang the selections, "Wild Geese" and "Let There be Peace on Earth". Mrs. Ora Coe of Milton Freewater Auxiliary president of District No. 6, was Introduced. The American Lecion Post No. 95 was organized February 28. 1921, with Joe Mason as com mander. Other members were Fred Nichoson. Dr. Clyde Walk er, Elmer Griffith, Walter Cor ley, Everett Ritchie, Raymond Turner, Walter Cockran. Oliver Hacuewood, W. A. Hayes, Earl J. Blake, John Ward, W. G. Hale, Oren Grabill, and George Zink. Blake was introduced as the only charter member attending, and he told a little of the his tory and humorous happenings. Mrs. Elaine Rietmann of lone and Mrs. Bonnie Torgerson of Milton-Freewater were honored Gold Star Mothers attending. Mrs. Torgerson accompanied Mrs. Coe to the meeting. The World War I veterans were introduced and asked to name their branch of service and where they were when the Arm istice was signed. Those partic ipating were Walt Roberts, Ho mer Mankin, Earl J. Blake, Cleo Drake, Henry Peterson and Frank Hamlin, both members of the Heppner past. Mrs. Eubanks, president of the local auxiliary, was Introduced and gave a - short response. The auxiliary Was organized December 12, 1928, and receivea its charter April 2, 1929. The first officers were Margaret Blake, president; Snoda Blake, vice-president; Gladys Drake, secretary treasurer; Thelma Corley, historian. Other charter members were Mary Beckner, Vera Rietmann, Vivian Hague- wood. Goldie Nelson, Maude Ferris, Bcrnicc Blackwell, Har riet Brown. Amy Sperrv and Ada Christopherson. Members pres ent were Margaret Blake, Glad ys Drake, Vera Rietmann, and Ada Christopherson. Bill Rietmann, mayor of lone, and Mrs. Rietmann were intro duced and welcomed. Husbands and wives of officers and hon ored guests were introduced, in cluding Mrs. Robert Cole, Mrs. Bonnie Torgerson, Mrs. Frank Hamlin, John Eubanks, and Omar Rietmann. Clifford Aldrich, commander, thanked all who participated in the program, and also the aux iliary for the dinner and all the arrangements and effort need ed to sponsor this special occasion.
