Sara Miller Named Soroptimist Youth Citizenship Winner Miss Sara Miller, Heppner High school senior, has been an nounced as local winner of the 19t9 Soroptimist Youth Citizen ship Awards contest. Her win ning essay Is now entered 1:1 competition with others in Dis trict No. 2 of the Northwestern Region of Soroptimist Clubs, with the district winner to ad vance to regional competition. The program, sponsored nat ionally by Soroptimist Founda tions, recognizes youth achieve ment in the family. In the com munity, and In the world. The program recently received its sixth consecutive annual George Washington Honor Medal from Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. Local Judges of this year's en tries in the contest report the essays were of outstanding qual ity. There were 13 entrants, and all impressed the selection com mittee with their thought-pro voking work. Sara, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Miller of Heppner, will receive a cash award from the Heppner Soroptimist club, and will be eligible for further award in the district. A total of 17 regional awards of $1,000 each will be announced during the second week in April. Each regional winner will then com pete for a finalist award of SI. 500. In all. it Is estimated that a total of $75,000 will be award ed to approximately 1,500 high school seniors. These Awards of Merit may be used bv the reclp- ients in ways to best further the students' aim to achieve their goals in education and specialized study. All proceeds earned from this fund raising event will he turn ed over to the March of Dimes. Heart Fund. Cancer Society and other worthy causes. February 21. The Rev. Arthur Campbell ciriciatea at the ceremony. ine bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Everett of Minneapolis. Minn., wore an off white silk worsted dress and coat costume, with matching ac cessories. She carried a cascade of white carnations on a white Bible. Mrs. James Green attended as matron of honor, with Mr. Green as best man. Miss Lisa Hanna, daughter of the bride, was flower gin. Following a honeymoon in British Columbia, the couple is now at nome at Koute 6. Box 1A Mt. Vernon, Wash. The groom is employed by Shell Oil Refinery In Anacortes, and the oride teaches m the Anacortes Junior high school. The new Mrs. Webb attend ed the University of Arizona and graduated from St. Cloud State College in Minnesota. Mr. Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Webb, Jr., graduated from Heppner High school in 1962. He attended Pacific University and received his masters degree in business administration from Oregon State University.
