Shank-Allyn Wedding Performed in Portland Marriage vows were exchang ed between Lois M. Shank of Pendleton and Melvin Lyle Al lyn of Boardman, at an 11:00 a.m. double ring ceremony on Friday, February 14. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's moth er, Mrs. Doris Beauford, in Port land, with the Rev. George Neeley, pastor of the Boardman Community church, reading the vows. Attending as matron of honor was Mrs. Elsie M. Fox of Wen atchee, Wash., sister of the groom. Best man was Rollo W. Craw ford of lone. Following the ceremony Mrs. Beauford was hostess at a luncheon at her home for mem bers of the wedding party and guests. Club Furnishes Items For Hospital Homes Members of the Carnation Cluh of the Degree of Honor Protective association brought gifts for comfort of permanent cure patients in the Pionee' Memorial hospital nursing home to its meeting V ednesaay eve ning. February 19. at the hum; of Mrs. Ida Farra. Members brought neck protectors and wheel chair packets for the nur ting home patients, and items were also brought for patients in the State Hospital in Pendle ton. In response to an invitation from the Pendleton Lodge to its installation of officers Tuesday evening at the Washington school, several members plan ned to attend. Serving as ush ers were Mrs. Lincoln Nash and Mrs. Mary Bryant. Others who planned to attend were Mrs. Farra, Mrs. Adelle LaTrace, Mrs. Ed Hunt and Mrs. Ed Gonty. After a short business meet ing, members worked on favors to be given officers at annual inspection ceremonies in June. Mrs. Farra was awarded the door prize. Grange to Sponsor Benefit on March 8 Women's Activity club of Rhea Creek Grange met at the home of Mrs. Leonard Rill for its meeting last Thursday morn ing. The topic for roll call was on telling the truth in memory of George Washington. Committees were appointed by Chairman Mrs. Dorris Graves for the annual pancake supper and card party, which is to be held at the Rhea Creek Grange hall on Saturday night, March 8. Supper will be served from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., with the card party to follow at 8 p.m. Pro ceeds raised from this event will be donated to the March of Dimes, state hospital gifts, Heart Fund, Cancer Society and other worthy benefit causes. Invitation Extended To Youth Meetings Student members of the Unit ed Youth Fellowship group ex tend an invitation to other youth of the community to attend their weekly Sunday evening meetings, which will be held during the month of March at the Heppner Christian church. The month's schedule of meet ings are being planned by a committee, including Gwenn Drake, Linda Baker and Carol Hughes. The students hold prayer ses sions from 6:30-7:00 p.m., fol lowed bv open meetings which last until 8:30. Of special interest for the next meeting, scheduled for Sunday, March 2, will be slides shown by Jay Wheelhouse. who has chosen the subject of co-relating Air Force pilot training with Christian growth. Refreshments are served following the meet ings. The Youth Fellowship group is under the sponsorship of the Heppner United Method i s t church and the Heppner and Lexington Christian churches. Extension Workshop To Instruct Pattern Fitting, Alteration All L'matilla and Morrow county women are invited to participate In a "Pattern Fitting and Alteration" workshop dur ing the month of March, accord ing to Mary Speckhart, exten sion agent. Participants who wish to sign up for the workshop should con tact the extension office In their area soon. The workshop will consist of four four-hour sessions. During that time participants will study how to measure for pattern size and how to determine figure type. Jaycee Wives Plan For Coming Events Members of the Morrow Coun ty Jaycee Wives greeted Mrs. Larry Angell as a new member of the group at its February meeting, held last Thursday night at the Heppner Neighbor hood Center. Planning is underway for the Memorial Day week-end college rodeo, when Jaycee members and wives will operate food con cession stands. Discussion fol lowed concerning chaperoning teenage dances at the fair pa vilion and the president, Mrs. Clyde Allstott, urged members to attend the Springboard Con vention scheduled for this week end in Albany. Hostess for the meeting was Mrs. Vern Nolan. Next meeting of the Jaycee Wives will be March 20, with Mrs. Tom Beam as hostess.
