Marty Boyetian, to John Neeley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Necly of Maupln. Miss Boyajian is a sophomore at Eastern Oregon College, and was graduated from Heppner High school In 1967. Mr. Neelv attended Pacific University, and will graduate from EOC this June. The couple plans an April wedding in Heppner. Card Club Meets At Jensen Home Two tables of pinochle were enjoyed last Thursday night at the home of Mrs, Lyle Jensen. Prize winners included Mrs. Bruce Grilfith, high, Mrs. Omer Huston, low and Mrs. Jerry Dougherty, pinochle. Other play, ers were Mrs. Len Ray Schwarz, Mrs. Carl Thorpe, Mrs, Don Stroober and Mrs. LaVern Keith-ley. Church Represented At Ontario Service For Bishop Spofford Among the large attendance of penum at the consecration wrvlce lor the Very Hcv. William Spoflord, Jr., new bishop of Kastern Oregon, in Ontario on Saturday, were the Itev. and Mrs. Dirk liinehart. Mr. and Mrs. Mllo Prlndle, and Mr. and Mrs. Ikib Lowe, of All Saints' Episco pal church. Attending from Kin zua was Dale Koss, who served as head cruclfer and led the pro cession. Inclement weather kept atten dance down somewhat from the 1500 that were originally esti mated to attend the service, but failed to detract from the mean ing of the ceremony, which was both simple and impressive. Serving as chief consecrator In the service was the Most Rev. John E. Illnes, the Episcopal church's presiding bishop from New York City. Two other con secrating bishops were the Right Kcv, Kane Barton, whom Dean Spofford is suuccccding, and the Right Rev. Norman Koote, Bishop of Idaho. Also taking part In the ceremony was Right Rev. Jack son E. Gilliam, Bishop of Mon tana and son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gilliam of Heppner. Bishop Spofford has served since 31 as Dean of St. Mich ael's Episcopal Cathedral In Boise, Ida., and previously serv ed a three year period as rec tor of St. Luke's Episcopal church in Welser, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan McCurdy enjoyed visiting with their dau ghter, Karen, when she travel ed here by bus from Portland. Karen is a senior at Oregon State University and Is spend ing the winter term doing stu dent teaching in a 2nd grade class in one of the Portland schools. She returned early Sun day, traveling with Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Smith, who had been here from Albany visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Ma-honey. 1847 ROGERS BROS? The flakes outside were provided by mother nature, and those with in by courtesy of Ruth Assem bly, Rainbow Girls, from decor ations of their Christmas dance. Mrs. Mildred Padberg, Mrs. Delia Murray, Mrs. Hazel Bauman, Mrs. Alice Luttrell, Mrs. Mary McMtirtry and Mrs. Opal Cook. Following the din ner, Mrs. Cook expressed appre ciation to all those who assist ed in helping with all arrange ments and decorations. Entertainment for the as sembled guests was provided by thp four children of the Ronald Haguewoods, Kristi, Kelwayne, Kevin and Kimeelu, who pre sented several songs and piano numbers, and were well receiv ed. Prior to Installation, the new noble brand-elect of Sans Souci, Mrs. Cook, was presented a lovely orchid corsage by Mrs. Earl Seward of Lexington, who grows them in her home. Grand Lodge officers were as follows: Randall Peterson, dis trict deputy grand master; Mrs. Archie Munkers, district deputy president; John Wightman and Mrs. Cecil Jones, district secre taries; R. G. McMurtry and Mrs. Joe Yocom, district treasurers; Herman Green and Mrs. Flor ence McMillan, district wardens; Ralph Beamer and Mrs. Frank Robinson, district chaplains. Installing marshals were Cor nett Green and Mrs. John Berg strom, with Mrs. Dean Connor as installing musician. Installed for the coming year were the following officers of Willow IOOF lodge: Jack Sum ner, notle grand; Ronald Hague wood, vice grand; Durwood Ta.h, secretary; Leon Ball, treas urer; K. u. McMurtry, waruen, and Gerald Rood, conductor. Randall Peterson was installed as right support to the noble grand, with Ralph Beamer ;is left support; Bob Lowe is right support to vice grand and John Wightman is the left support. The newly appointed chaplain is Cornett Green; Lincoln Nash, inside guardian, and Orian Wright, outside guardian. Jodi Kaye Adams delighted her grandmother, Mrs. Cook, with a presentation of a bou quet of long stemmed red roses from her family. Jodi Kaye is the. rianerhtpr nf MrS. Member present voted unan imously to present two chairs for use In the newly constructed state Jaycec office building in Salem, f unds used for the chairs were earned early In the fall when the wives of Jaycce mem bers assisted the school district with the school cenus. Membeis also vot?d on two minor changes In the club's by laws. On Thursday, January 23, members gathered for a secret sister revealing party. Games and refreshments were enjoyed and a drawing held for new secret sisters for the coming year. Jaycee members and wives en joyed a pot luck dinner and skat ing party on Saturday night, January 2.5, at the roller rink. Reception at Hoskins Home Honors Couple On 25th Anniversary A 251 h wedding anniversary celebration honoring Mr. and Mrs. Kr.'tl Hopkins, Jr., was ob served by friends and relatives of the couple at a reception giv en at theii home for them by their children, Mrs. James L. (Gull) Boor of Bremerton, Wash.; Mae, who attends school at B.MCC In Tendleton. and Marie who lives at home. About 50 friends and neighbors of the hi'Porecs called at the Hoskins home throughout the afternoon to extend good wishes to the couple and enjoy refresh ments of cake, punch and cof fee. Adding to the pleasure of the day was the attendance of the Hoskins' only grandchild, eight-months-old Douglas Boor, son of their daughter, Gall. Mrs. Francis Mitchell of Port land, sister of Mrs. Hoskins, served Ihe anniversary cake, which centered the attractively decorated serving table. Others who assisted with serving were Mrs. Harry Hoskins and Mrs. Frank Parker, mothers of the couple, who served punch and coffee, and Mrs. Robert Hoskins and Mrs. George Griffith of Ce cil, who assisted with arrange ments for the party. January 30. 96 Celebration Combines Two Family Occasions A combination birthday dinner and anniversary celebration was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ruggles on Thursday evening, January 23. honoring them on the occasion of Mrs. Buggies' birthday and the couples' wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hoskins Is a teacher at Heppner Elemen tary school and has taught in the Heppner schools for 15 years.
