; ; MISS DONNA KAT POTTER Former Heppner Girl To Wed February 22 The engagement and coming marriage of Miss Donna Kay Potter to Randel Jon Quadros is announced bv her parents. Mr. and Mrs. David R. Potter of Fortuna, Calif., and former residents of Heppner, while Mr. Potter was county school super intendent. Parents of the groom elect are Mr. and Mrs. John Quadros, Jr., of Walnut Creek, Calif. Their wedding Is planned for Saturday, February 22. in For tunn. Both of the young people have been enrolled at Oregon State University, Corvallis, where Donna is In her sophomore year in Home Economics and her fi ance is a senior In Forestry. Ful filling his ROTC commission with graduation, the couple will leave for Virginia after their marriage, where he will be sta tioned. He Is a member of Acacia fraternity, and Donna is a member of Chi Omega soror ity at OSU. Church to Welcome Bishop Gilliam Here Members and friends of All Saints' Episcopal church will have a celebration and reunion this Sunday, January 26, at 10 a.m. family worship when the Rt. Rev. Jackson E. Gilliam, Bishop ot Montana, will be guest preacher and celebrant. Bishop Gilliam will assist at the consecration of the Very Rev. William Spofford, bishop elect of Eastern Oregon, this Saturday in Ontario, and will then travel to Heppner follow ing the service with the Rev. and jUrs. DirK Kinenart. Relatives (especially his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gilliam of Heppner) and friends will be delighted to welcome Bishop Gil liam back to his home town and parish church. January 13, IKS Minister Installs New ECW Officers Members of the Episcopal rhurch Womens group of All Saints' church held election of new officers on Sunday, January 12, at a meeting following reg ular church services. Elected to serve the group as president was Mrs. Ned (Kathy) Clark. Mrs. Mike Gray was elected vice-president; Mrs. ( layton Sweek, secretary; and Mrs. Milo Prindle, treasurer. The new officers were install ed on Sunday, January 19, dur ing church services by the Rev. Dirk Rinehart. MISS THERESA MUNKER3 Munkers Announce Daughter's Betrothal Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Munk ers of Lexington announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Theresa, to Dean Naffziger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Naffzig er of Eugene. Miss Munkers is a 1966 grad uate of Heppner High school, at tended Eastern Oregon College, La Grande, and is presently em ployed at the First National Bank in Heppner. Mr. Naffziger graduated from he University of Oregon In 1967 and is presently employed as teacher and coach at Heppner High school. A March wedding is planned Golf Club Elects At Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Willow Creek Country Club was held Tuesday evening, January 14, at the fair pavilion annex. Members enjoyed a potluck din ner, which was followed by a film on the 1968 Open Golf Tournament. New officers, elected for the coming year, are Ed Schaffitz, president; Dick Carpenter, vice president; Mrs. Beverly Gunder son, secretary-treasurer, and Mrs. Marylou Kelly and Bob Jepsen, directors. Barclay St. Patrick's Catholic church In Heppner was the setting for the December 28 marriage ot Miss Mary Elizabeth Boon to James Patrick Barclay. Parents of the couolc are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boon of Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. Max Barclay of Lexington. The 11 a.m. ceremony was read by the Rev. LeRoy Clem intich of the University of Port land, in the presence of parents and close family members of the couple. Serving the bridal couple as maid of honor was the groom's sister. Miss Judy Barclay, and John Van Winkle served as best man. Usher for the ceremony was Tom Boon, and Jim and Jerry Healy assisted as servers, Immediately following the ceremony, the newly married couple, their families and mem bers of the bridal party were guests for breakfast at the Wag on Wheel cafe. Following the traditional first slice by the couple, the cake was served to guests by Mrs. Lee Foster. Out-of-town relatives who at tended the reception included Mrs. Frank Barclay of Walla Walla, Wn.; Mr. and Mrs. Boon and Tom Boon, of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Tucker and Mrs. Lois Barclay, all of Pendleton; Jim Boule of Los Angeles, Calif., and Robert Boule of Seattle, Wash. The new Mr. and Mrs. Barclay will make their first home in Portland where the groom is at tending school at the Universi ty of Portland. They reside at 4237 N. Michigan St. Members of the lone Garden club met for their regu I a t monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 8, at the home of Mrs. Wallace II. Wolff, with Mrs. Or vllle Cutsforth assisting as co hostess. The small attendance at the meeting was attributed to hide ment weather and illness among the members. Members heard a rcuort b Mrs. Wolff on the recent yearly Audubon bird count mat Gard en club members and high school students completed. She noted In her report thut although half as many birds were seen as compared to recent years, many varieties of birds were In evidence. The annual 12th night tree burning ceremony, held at lone on Monday, January 6, was re ported by Mrs. Omar Rietmann. Garden club members have re ceived an invitation to attend a conservation meeting sponsored by the Echo Garden club at the Echo school cafeteria on Mon day, February 10. A potluck supper will be provided and husbands of members are in vlted to attend. Featured speaker for the even Ing will be Claude Mills, nursery man from the Milton-Freewater area, who Is noted for his land scaping abilities. The afternoon program for the meeting was presented by Mrs. Vida Heliker of lone, who spoke on deudly harvest, or poisonous plants. Many seeds and pits were on display for members to view that contained toxins or poisons. One of the seeds was of the notorious variety that ap peared recently as decorations on some Jewelry Items that were sold nationwide. It was announced that the next club meeting will be Wed nesday. February 12. at the home of Mrs. James Driscoll, who will present an Informative program on the growing and care of Af rican violets. In March the club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Elaine Rietmann. Guest speaker at this meeting will be Mrs. William Sipfle, whose program topic will be on the growing and use of herbs. Monohan-Hoffman Engagement Told The engagement and coming marriage of Miss Teresa Moim han to Ronuld B. Hoffman is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Monahan of Hi ppner. Parents of the groom elect are Mr. and Mrs. John II. Hoffman of Pendleton. Their wedding is planned for August at St. Patrick's Catholic church In Heppner. Miss Monahttn is a 1906 grad uate of Heppner High school and is In her second year at Blue Mountain Community college, Pendleton. Her fiance, a gradu ate of Pendleton High school in 1963. hns completed two years at BMCC. Former lone Girl Married Last Month Of Interest to friends here Is news of the recent marriage of Miss Kathy Marie Christopher son, daughter of Mr. and Mh Vernon Christopherson, to PFC Daniel Becker. The couple ex changed wedding vows Decem ber 23, in Vancouver, Wn., and will make their first home in Alaska, where the groom will finish his term of mllltsry serv ice. The Christopherson family re sided in the lone area until about four years ago, when they moved to Aurora, Ore., to make their home. w h MISS TERESA MONAHAN After spending nearly a weak In St. Anthony hospital In Pen dleton for medical care, Dr. A. Lodge Holds Special Memorial Service Members of the Degree of Honor Protective ssociation met Tuesday evening, January 14, at the Episcopal parish hall for a memorial service and bus iness meeting. A special service was held in memory of Mrs. Tress (Bonnie) McClintock of Monmouth and Bill Farra of Heppner. During a brief business meet ing, Mrs. Pete McMurtry was acting vice-president and Mrs. Carl King served as 2nd vice prseident.
