fell of music. Robin and Judy
Sevcrinsen. daughters of Mr. and
Mrs. Dc Sevcrinsen of Branch
ville. N. J. are gaining many
honors in horsemanship.
The girls are well known in
Heppner because their mother.
Evonne (Evans) Severinsen,
was reared here, and their
grandmother is Mrs. Ora Evans,
now of Portland, who was a
resident here for many years.
Robin was in the spotlight at
ihn nnmi.'il awards banauet of
the New Jersey Quarter Horse i
acLiirmn in December 7. win-'
ning the top honor for youth,
the horsemanship award. As
well as being champion in
horsemanship, she won the
lumping championship, was
third in youth showmanship and
champion youth working hunt
er. She was fourth all-youth.
Meanwhile, not to he outdone,
their father's quarter horso,
"Doc's Sure Cash," was picked
as reserve champion and was
judged co-grand champion geld
ing. Keenly interested spectators at
the banquet were Herb Hynd
onH hie uiut,.r Mrs E. R. (An
nie ) Schaffer. both of Cecil who
were in the east on a trip at
the time.
Doc and his musical sextet
furnished entertainment at the
awards banquet, and most of
the honors that Robin had won
were kept secret from him un
til the moment of presentation.
Hynd said that Doc delighted
the crowd by blowing his trum
pet when each award for Robin
was announced. When it came
his turn to take the honors for
"Doc's Sure Cash," Robin re
sponded by taking his trumpet
and loudly blowing it for him.
Judy, meanwhile, is attending
Cimlhnrn Rpminarv CollpPe f01
Women in Buena Vista, Va., and
was elected freshman class pres
ident. She is on the dean's list
as a French major and rides on
the school team. She rides to
the hounds on week-ends.
The Severinsens recently pur
chased a 56 -acre place at
Branchville, N. J., and are en
joying the new home very
much.
"Everyone in Sussex county
has a Ski-Doo and all the par
ties during the winter consist of
taking Ski-Doo trips," Mrs. Sev
erinsen writes, "and dropping in
at various homes on the trip
for food and refreshments. What
fun!"
