Miss Riley Gets Leave Sick leave for Miss Alice Riley. lleppner High schoil teacher, was granted for the balance of the current school year. She was recently confined to a hospital on account of ill ness and is now recovering at home. Mrs. Hope Temple, formerly a substitute teacher in Portland and later teacher in Oregon City, was given a contract as English and Spanish teacher at the high school. She has had five years' teaching experience. Supt. Daniels reported that an, electrical firm had furnished an estimate of $1587 to replace two fuse boxes at the lleppner Ele mentary school with circuit breaker boxes, rewire some of the rooms with Wiremold and do other electrical work that was recommended after a recent in spection of the school. It was pointed out that the remodel ing budget is already overex pended. Other estimates will be fought to see if the work can he done more economically. Aim of the project would be to correct a "hot fuse box" situa tion that was considered some thing of a potential fire haz ard, although the electrical con tractor who checked the job .raid that fuses should burn out before a fire started. Report was given on a state sanitation and food facilities in spection of the county schools. Visitors Score on Pass At this juncture the Crane team clicked and scored on a touchdown pass from Evan Miller to Joe Davis, good for 12 yards. Matt Heathco ran the ex tra point, and it was 33-7. First half scoring was com pleted when Halvorsen broke loose on a 22-yard romp, and Halvorsen passed to Wilson for the point after, bringing the halftime count to 40-7. In the third quarter Ball wort 11 yards for the first touchdown of the period, but the point missed, and it was 46-7. Navy, commander of Fleet Air at the Whidby Island, Wash., naval installation, will be the speaker at the luncheon meet ing of the Heppner-Morrow county Chamber of Commerce Monday at noon in the Wagon Wheel Cafe, President Wes Sher man announces. Admiral Trum is expected to be accompanied by three other naval officers. His talk is ex pected to deal with the import ance and function of the Navy bombing range in Morrow county- a cehoftnlpd film on cnecK artists, entitled "Paper Hangers," failed to arrive in ume iur m--nmnrnm MnnHav and will be re scheduled at a later date. Carpenter also discussed the possibility of improving the field lighting system at the rodeo grounds.
