The Ecumenical Concern Group of All Saints' Eipscopal church, and the United Church of Christ Group met recently with Don Bristow as host. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pettyjohn and daughter, Marianne, attend ed the Blue Mountain Intercol legiate Rodeo at the Mustanger Grounds in Pendleton on Sun day, October 27. Eastern Oregon College was one of the other contestants and about 50 young people participated. Bill Mc i. oin won the bareback, saddle brone, and bull dogging, and placed third in calf roping. Pat tv McCoin won the barrel rac ing and goat tieing events. Bill is president of the Blue Mount ain group and Patti is secretary. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krebs have returned home after a few week's stay in Montana. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ray and family from Crescent, were re cent visitors at the Lee Petty john home. Jim Swanson niid surgery on hl.s knee recently at St. Anthony hospital in Pendleton. Jim tore the cartilage loose in his knee during the lone-Arlington foot ball game. Charles F. Smith from Olym pla, Wn., has returned to his home after visiting at the home of Mrs. Fannie Gritlith. The lone High sdiool council attended a workshop at La Grande on Oct. 30. along with a number of other schools in Eastern Oregon. Mrs. Wayne Morris was one of the speakers they had for the day. Those at tending from lone were Eddie Sherman, Jim Swanson, Jodie Snow and Linda Pettvlohn. Har old Beggs accompanied the Ktoup. Bill Melena from Ontario. spent some time here recently attending to business matters. Valbv Lutheran church held a family night potluck dinner at the parish house October 27. The motif was Hallo we'en and the young people came dressed in costume. Valbv Lutheran church held confirmation services on November 10, witli a reception following. Those being confirm ed are Carlev and Shauna Berg strom, Cherl Carlson and Her bert Ekstrom III. Mike Nasrawine from Kerak, Joidan, is a guest at the Ralph Crum home. Nasrawine is an AID. participant from Oregon State University, arriving in September, and will spend a year here visiting and studying dry land farming. He spent three weeks in Pendleton at the Ex periment Station before coming to lone. He will be here about five weeks. Nasrawine is a su perintendent of an experiment station in Jordan. The Junior High football team defeated the Pilot Hock team 14 to 13. This was their last game of the season and are to be congratulated for winning all their games. Topic Club met at the home of Mrs. Verner Troedson on Wednesday, November 6, at 2:13. Carlene West was co-hostess. The members are studying about coins, and roll was an swered by naming a U. Cole Graduates John F. Cole, MM2, graduated November 4 from the final phase of nuclear power training at Idaho Falls, Idaho, finishing second in a class of 233 students with a grade of 3.46. He is be ing transferred to the USS En terprise after taking the exam ination for acceptance into the naval officer program. Cole has an 18 day leave which he is spending with his wife in Port land. He is a graduate of Hepp ner High school. Mrs. Inez Huffman and Jerry Hollomon attended funeral serv ices in Pasco, Wn., on Novem ber 4 for Hollomon's uncle, Preston Hollomon, who died October 29 at Kadlec hospital in Richland following several week's hospitalization from lung surgery. Hollomon retired three years ago from Pacific Power and Light Co., where he served as a plant manager. He was a close familv friend of Mrs. Huffman and the late Mr. Huff man, who was also associated with Pacific Power and Light Co. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Culp and family drove to Vale last Wed nesday to visit his father, George Culp, who is making re covery from a stroke suffered recently. On their return home, the couple stopped in Pendle ton where thev picked up their niece. Patsy Taylor, who re turned home with them for a week-end visit. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Taylor, visited Sundav at the Culp home when picking up their daughter. An other week-end guest was Roger Herendine of Baker, who visit ed on Sunday.
