At this time the sel ection ol the queen was announ ced, with Teresa Stefanl chosen as queen of the 1!H18 llomecom Ing court. Coronation ceremon ies for Oueen Teresa were held that evening at the Homecom ing dance. Saturday Meeting Planned for Pomona Regular meeting of Pomona Grange will be Saturday, Octo ber 26. at the Lexington Grange hall. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue un til noon. After the noon lunch, there will be a cake walk. Mrs. Berl Akers, Pomona lec turer, will be in charge of the afternoon program. Ron Dan iels, superintendent of Morrow county schools, will be the main speaker and will talk on the l'2 property tax measure. Regular afternoon session will follow the program. Life of Mrs. Lane Reviewed for Club "The Quiet Life of Mrs. Lane", bv Victoria Case, noted Oregon author, was reviewed by Mrs. George Currln at the Oc tober 3 meeting of the Hepp ner Bookworms club, which met at the home of Mrs. Lucy Peter son. The story Is of the life of Mrs. Joseph Lane, wife of a promin ent figure in the early territor ial government of Oregon. Members of the group agreed to purchase a copy of "Preserve and Protect", by Allen Drury, to be presented to the HeDDner Li brary. The book is fourth in a series following "Advice and Consent" Book plates, which belonged to Mrs. Katie Hager, former member of the Bookworms club, will also be presented to the library as a gift from the club. Gem Club to Meet Morrow County Gem and Mineral Society will meet Sat urday, October 26, at 8:00 p.m. in the McMurtry building. Mrs. George Miller will be in charge of the program, with refresh ments and door prize at the close of the meeting. All inter ested persons are invited to attend. Club Studies Uses Of Dried Materials In Flower Arranging The lone Garden club met at the home of Mrs. Garry Tullis. on Wednesday, October 8, with Mrs. ttell p.ea serving as co hostess. Previom to the meeting, mem tiers had collected weeds and other dry materials which were Identified and labeled during the meeting. They will be used in making dry arrangements at the next month's meeting. The attractive year books were giv en out to members. Each mem ber selected a bird thev will study during the year, and will answer roll call with some pe culiarity or feature of that bird. Mrs. Fred Martin told of their trip to the game refuge. A Christmas workshop will be conducted on Wednesday, De cember 4 In lone, and Is open to the public. The meeting place will be announced at a later date. A Bonsai meeting will be hrld In Pendleton on October 2,4. at 8 p.m. and it Is also op en to the public. The hostesses served choco late pie, tea and coffee after the meeting. Mrs. Omar Rletmann. and Mrs. Garry Tullis were invited to attend the high school home economics class on Tuesday and give the girls a lesson in flow er arrangements. Program Features Study of Narcotics An education program on nar colic was presented at the pro gram at the Octoter 2 business meeting of Beta Omega Sorority meinlM-rs, as they gulhered alt the home of Mrs. Don Peterson for their regular monthly meet ing. The program, presented by Mrs. Art Limlsirom and Mrs. Peterson, was highly Informa tive and of much Interest. Members of the club are cur rently forming plans for a barn dance for their members and In vited guests. Live music will be featured.
