Brochures will be sent home with the elementary and high school students on Thursday, September 26. The registration procedures have been changed this year. The registrations and organiza tional meeting has been elimin ated. Students will enroll, pay fees, and purchase books at the first class meeting. All classes are contingent upon a member ship of ten per class. Persons unable to attend the first class meeting may register by calling Heppner High school. This year, the college Is offer ing two full year courses: Ac counting and typing-office prac tice. The accounting class will meet for 12 weeks each term on Wednesday nights. The' typing office practice class will meet for 10 weeks each term on Tues day and Thursday nights. These two courses will give residents an opportunity to learn a voca tional skill. Friday Peanut butter sand wiches, tomato soup, vegetable Jell-0 salad, cake, milk. lone High Elects Editors for Year Bonnl Morgan has been elec ted to lead the staff of the Card inal, lone High newspaper, and Joy Beggs has been chosen edi tor of the Ionian, yearbook, at lone High school for the current school year. The two were chosen In an election September 19 following an assembly In which campaign speeches were given. Other candidates giving speeches and campaigning for the posts were Sandi Carlson lor Cardinal editor and Kristin Nel son and Sharlene Hamlett for Ionian editor. Tht editors will make staff appointments next week and announce plans for the coming year. Bonni and Joy have been serving as temporary co-editors of the Cardinal, the first issues or which will be published next Wednesday. The two editors attended the annual Eastern Oregon Press Conference at Pendleton High school on Saturday, September 21. Also attending from IHS was Karen Edwards, serving as pho tographer for the paper and yearbook staffs. While at the conference they attended lectures by visiting ex perts and professors of journal ism, observed displays of out standing yearbooks and school papers. Holding a college degree In sacred music, Rev. Parker has directed several choirs, has com posed and arranged music, and with Mrs. Parker has made re cordings. The public Is cordially Invited to attend the coming evening meetings. Mrs. Ritch Attends Assessor's Meeting Mrs. Joyce Ritch, special as sessor for Morrow county, left Tuesday to attend the conven tion of Oregon's county assess ors at Corvallis. The Benton county assessor's office is host for the meeting. Mrs. Ritch will be gone through the remainder of this week. Rockhound Meeting Planned Saturday Morrow County Gem and Min eral Society will start the fall season with a potluck supper Saturday, September 28, at 6:30 p.m., for members, families and their guests. Rolls and coffee will be furnished, but members are asked to bring their own table service. Following the supper, a meeting will be held at 8:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Federation chairmen, will report on meetings they have attend ed. Program of "Junk to Jewel ry", shown In slide form, is planned. Mrs. Miller Is planning a field trip for members and families on Sunday, September 29, In the hills across from Arlington. Those who plan to go are ask ed to meet at Farley's Garage at 9:00 a.m., and to bring lunch, digging tools and boxes and sacks.
