Assembly President To Make Visitations At Rebekah Meetings Sam Soucl Rebekah Lodge No. 33 resumed Its regular meetings September 8 after a summer re (W, Mm. Tom Huston, noble grand, took care of a large umount of accumulated commu nications prior to the business meeting. Pinna were discussed for the official visit of Mrs. Blunche Imel of Portland, state president of the Rebekah Assembly, on Friday, September 20. Preceding the evening meeting will be a no-host dinner at 6:00 p.m. In the Wagon Wheel dining room. Mrs. Huston urged all members to be present for this occasion, with officers requested to wear formnls, as well as others who wish to do so. The annual convention of District No. 20 was announced to be held In lone on September 19. starting at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Larry Cook will serve as vice chairman of the convention. The lodge charter was draped in an Impressive ceremony In memory of Oral M. Scott, who died recently, and a veteran member who was Initiated In to Sans Soucl lodge 57 years ago. Also, a contribution was made to the Endowment Fund for the IOOF H ome as a mem orial. A report was given on tho Sidewalk Bazaar project by Mm. Ed La Trace, Triple Links pres ident. Also a committee report was heard on the luncheon served for the royal courts and other dignitaries who attended the Morrow County Fair and Rodeo parade. Miss Esther Bergstrom and Mrs. Marv Bailey served refresh ments during the social hour which followed the close of the meeting. IGU Program Informs Group of Sister Club A program designed to help members of the Soroptimist Club cf Heppner feel more closely acquainted with Its sister club In Folkestone, England, was presented at the club's luncheon meeting last Thursday. Mrs. Charles Starks, chairman of the international goodwill and understanding committee, shared letters of correspondence, and a variety of pamphlets and publications showing the resort atmosphere and beauty of the port city, received recently from officers of the Folkestone Sor optimist club. Information on Oregon and Morrow county had previously been sent to them. Continued correspondence will lead to a closer relationship be tween the two clubs and under standing of the two cultures. Two new members, Mrs. Joyce Ritch and Mrs. Marlene Gray, were welcomed into the club. Plans are being made by sev eral members to attend the Dis trict 2 meeting on Saturday and Sunday of this week at the Hood River Village. Clara Gertson. national treasurer of the association, and also state director, reported on her trip to the national direct ors' meeting which she attend ed last month in St. Paul. Minn., and of plans being made for the national convention there in 1909. Mrs. Bill Farra. a past state president, urged members to work toward helping Mm.
