MISS PATTI PETTYJOHN September Wedding Planned by Couple The coming marriage of Mini Paul Sue Pettyjohn and Bill Mo Coin Is announced by th brldo elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Le I'ltivjohn of lone. The couple will exchange, wedding vows at the lone United Church of Christ on Thursday, September 19. Parents of the groom-elect are Nutna McColn of Sisters and Norma McColn of Terrebonne. The couple will again enroll at Blue Mountain Community college. Pendleton, where both are active In the Rocky Mount' aln Region of National Intercol Irgiute Rodeo Association, and Miss Pettyjohn has been among the honor students. Grays Spend Service Leave in Honolulu Mrs. David Gray returned to the Portland airport Friday evening, from Honolulu, Ha waii, where she went to meet her husband, David, who was on one week "R and R" leave from military duty at Chu-Lai, Vietnam. There he Is stationed cn a waterpolnt. a large power plant that supplies water and electricity to the compound. LCpl. Gray also works on road repair and construction, as sisting with roads damaged by mine or bomb explosions. He has about five months of over seas duty remaining. The couple stayed on Waikikl Beach while on the Island. Mrs. Grav's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C A. Warren, met her at the Port land airport following the five hour flight from Honolulu. Miss Snow to Wed Spokane Man Soon Former Heppner residents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Snow, of Spo kane, Wn., announce the forth coming marriage of their dau phter, Janet Fay, to Roger Swan, son of Mrs. Fred Scholtz and Bob Swan, all of Spokane. The couple will exchange their marriage vows at the Lu theran church on Saturday, Aug ust 31, at 7:30 p.m., in Spo kane. All friends and relatives of the couple from this area are cordially Invited to attend the ceremony and reception, which will follow. The couple will make their home In Spokane temporarily before the groom begins mili tary service. Mica Crawford Is a 1968 erad iiate of Hermiston High school and Is employed at the Uma tilla Army Depot. She is trie granddaughter of Mr. ana Mrs. Franklin Ely and of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Crawford, all of lone. Her fiance is a 19bb graduate of Hermiston High school and attended Blue Mountain Com munity college. At present he is employed by the Shell Oil Com pany in Hermiston. Mrs. Gene (tee) Winters lett Tuesday, August 13, for John Day where she will spend a few days while participating as Judge for 4-H exhibits in Home Economics at the Grant county fair. Mrs. Winters expects to travel to Tgyh Valley to do some judging at the Wasco county fair next week. Court Shares Summer Activities with Club At Luncheon Meeting Members of the Morrow Coun- tv Fair and Rodeo court shared their Interesting experiences of the summer with their hosts, the Soroptimist Club of Heppner. at the annual court luncheon last Thursday noon In the Wagon Wheel dining room. The oueen and her four pnn tesses, accompanied by tneir mothers and chaperone, Mrs. Dimple Munkers, were dinner guests at tables decorated in the western theme. Lasso ropes were entwined with rocks and green ery down the center of the ta ble, with miniature horses, and boots holding flower arrange ments, added to the decoration. A small replica of a pioneer wagon centered the head table. At each guests place were a bright checked gingham napkin and a program featuring each girl's silhouette on the cover. Mrs. Elaine ueorge, ciud pres ident, welcomed the guests at opening ceremonies. Among vis itors ol the day were Mrs. Bin Weatherford and Mrs. Mabel Chaffee. Mrs Bill Johnson, program chairman, welcomed the court and Introduced Mrs. Munkers, who, after words of praise for the cooperativeness of the court and their parents, presented Queen Berniece Matthews. In esponse to her Introduction, Mrs. Wallace Matthews, lone, mother of the queen, told of the many hours of volunteer serv ice Mrs. Munkers gives to trav eling with the court, her effic iency In handling the many de tails, and the respect and ad miration held for her by the girls and their parents. Otners on tne court introauc- ed their mothers and each told of highlights of fairs, rodeos and parades in which they had participated through the sum mer, ana or tneir coming pians. Queen Berniece announced that they would be interviewed on KUMA radio station In Pen dleton this Thursday, August 15, and would be guests of the Shriner's football teams In Pen dleton that evening. Soroptimist members were re minded to make plans now for district meeting to be held in Hood River the week-end of September 21-22.
