Smith In Episcopal Church Ceremony July 27 In an impressive all-white ceremony on Saturday morning, July 27, Miss Shannon Mahoney was united in marriage to Har lan B. Smith. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Mahoney of Heppner, and par ents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Smith of Cottage Grove. The couple repeated their double ring vows at a 10:00 e.m. ceremony at the altar of All Saints' Episcopal church, with the Rev. Dirk Rinehart per forming the service. Floral arrangements of white pom-pom chrysanthemums add ed to the summer setting. Escorted by her father, the bride appeared in a floor length gown of white taffeta, fashion ed with lace bodice, wrist length sleeves and oval neckline. The full overskirt of embossed lace extended into a chapel train, and two wide bands ot match ing lace, highlighted with iri descent sequins, edged the bot tom of the slim skirt. For something old, the bride wore an antique gold cross, set with amethyst, her birthstone, which was a gift from her grandmother, Mrs. George Hy att. Her full shoulder-length il lusion veil was held by a clus ter of white leaves touched with sequins. She carried a cas cading bouquet of white silver strand chrysanthemums back ed with fern. Maid of honor was Mrs. Rob ert Mahoney, Heppner, sister-in-law of the groom. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Archie Ball, Jr., Pendleton, and Mrs. Bruce Moyer of La Grande, both former schoolmates of the bride. The honor attendants wore matching street-length gowns nf white Tropicana crepe. Head pieces were halo crowns of the same material, surrounaea oy r.heer nvlon netting. They car ried arm bouauets of white nnm-nom chrysanthemums. Attending his brother as best man was Harvey Smith ot cot tage Grove. Ushering the guests were Robert Mahoney, Heppner, bro ther of the bride, and Arnold Martin of Corvallis. Preceding the bride as flower girl was Tara Mahoney, niece of the bride, and serving as ring bearer was David Bray, Eugene, nephew of the groom. Mrs. (J. U. carmicnaei piayeu organ selections before the cere mony and accompanied Shan non Kelly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kelly, as she sang the selection "The Wedding Prayer". For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Mahoney chose to wear a kelly green textured linen knit ensemble, with matching acces sories. Mrs. Smith, mother of the groom, was attired in a blue brocade ensemble, with white accessories. The newlyweds greeted their wedding guests, many coming from out of town, at a recep tion in the parish hall. A tiered all-white wedding cake center ed the bride's table, topped with dainty corsage of white chrysanthemums. After the first slice was shared by the bridal couple, it was cut and served by Mrs. Ed Schaffitz, Mrs. Ray mond Ferguson, Mrs. Lowell Gribble and Mrs. C. E. McQuar rie. all of Heppner. Pouring were Mrs. George Hy att, Pendleton, grandmother of the bride; Mrs. A. C. Ball. Hepp ner, aunt of the bride; Mrs. Mary Ellen Myers of Hermiston, and Mrs. Claude uranam, nepp r.er. j Passing the guest book was j Miss Trisha Farley, Heppner. The gift table was attended j bv Miss Ginger Springer and Miss Marion Cady, both of Sa lem. For their wedding trip to points of interest in Canada, the new Mrs. Smith changed to a self-fashioned apricot knit en semble, with matching acces sories, and a white orchid cor sage. Both bride and groom were graduated from Oregon State University with the class of 1968. Shannon received her de gree in Home Economics and will be teaching during the coming school year at Leslie Junior high school in Salem. Dycks Are Honored At Farewell Party Friend of Mr. and Mrs. Art Dyck gathered at Fltnia Bowl rriday evening during the last mixed doubles league to sur prise the couple with a farewell party In their honor. About 75 attended the affair to wish the couple well ah they prepared to move Sunday to La Vegas, Nev., where Mrs. Dyck min, his father and brother, A. L. and Art Osmln. State vice president. Paul Bud ke, of Pilot Rock, presided over the afternoon meeting and for urns were conducted on agricul ture and conservation; Ameri canism and governmental af fairs; chapter management and cadership training and records and recognition. Local presi dents also gave progress reports on their local chapter activities. Gary wimeims, administrat ive vice president of the Oregon Jaycees. addressed the group and deliveied a progress report on construction of the state of fice building in Salem. Announcement was made that La Grande Jaycees will host the next district meeting sometime in October. National director Larry Fuller, Ontario, addressed the group, giving comments and evalua tions of recent district activities, A table lump was presented to the couple as a farewell gift and the group of hostesses served fruit punch, cofie and assorted cookies to those attend ing. Son and Family Visit Keithleys Guests recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Keith ley and Tncia have been their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. nd Mrs. Jerry (Janet) Kloeppcl, nd children Ronnie and Tina, 11 of Vernal. Utah. The family made the trip out by car and spent about a week here visiting friends and rela tives. Relatives gathered for a fam ily picnic held Sunday, July 2is, at Cutsforth Park in honor of the visitors. Guests attending included Mr. and Mrs. Ray War muth. Mrs. Tom West and boys, and Mrs. Joe Majors, all of Port land; Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Keithlev and family and Mr, and Mrs. Bob Harrison and boys. The newlyweds are now at home in El Fiason Villa, 819 West 18th St. in Albany. Special guests coming from out of town included Mrs. Jo sephine Mahoney Baker, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Mahoney, and Judge and Mrs. John Kilkenny, all of Portland Parents and other relatives of the groom attended from Cot tage Grove. Several college friends of the couple attended, as well as friends and relatives of Pendleton and the surround ing areas. Members of the wedding par ty, relatives and close friends of the couple were entertained at a rehearsal dinner at the Mahoney home on Friday even ing preceding the Saturday ceremony. Enjoy Picnic Outing Visiting at the Carl McDan iel residence over the week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grant of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mr. and Mrs. J. Frank Grant of Aloha. The two Grant men are brothers of George Smith who resides with his daughter, Mrs. McDaniel, and family. The group picnicked at Bull Prairie park on Sunday. Coming from Pendleton for the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, brother of Mrs. McDaniel. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Toll and family are home following a week's vacation and camping trip which took them to Glacier Park and Flathead Lake, Mont., where they spent a few days fishing and boating with fam ily friends, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Werst, of Osburn, Idaho. The enmo. ground is located near Big Tim ber, Mont., north of Yellowstone National Park. The couple then traveled to Postill Lake in Can. ada, where they remained for a week of fishing. Campbell or Fossil. Miss Barzee Is a 19(53 graduate of Wheeler High school and Mr. Campbell is a 1965 graduate of Wheeler High. No date has been set for the wedding. Mrs. Farley Better Mrs. Jim Farley is progressing very well towards recovery In St. Anthony hospital, Pendleton, this week, according to her hus band. She entered the hospital for major surgery that was per formed Mondiiy, July 22, but later suffered complications that delayed her dismissal. Although she Is expected to remain hospit alized some time yet, she has been showing very fine Improve ment, her husband states.
