r " : " l. L MRS. DOBOTHT BROWN Speaker Tells Group Of Home Accessories On Achievement Day Right accessories make your home liveable. This was one of Ihc tins which persons who at tended the Morrow County Home Extension Achievement Day received Wednesday, May 15. The meeting was held at the Ileppner (air pavilion. Mrs. Dorothy Brown, extension home furnishing specialist at Oregon State University, devel oped the theme for the event hy suggesting basic guides to follow when using accessories In the home, and through use of colored slides. This annual homemakers event was planned by the Coun ty Home Extension Committee with Mrs. Gladys Connor, Ilepp ner, serving as general chair man. Other Achievement Dav chair men were Mrs. Ola Ruggles, Heppner, for decorations; Mrs. Beverly Wright, Hardman, for program cover; Mrs. Marjorie Acock. Irrigon, hospitality, and Mrs. Bea Lucianl, Butter Creek, programs and invitations. Mrs. Dorris Graves, Hardman, mistress of ceremonies, intro duced Clarence Rosewall, mayor of Ileppner, who extended a welcome to the city and told of the many advantages of living in Heppner. Special guests In troduced Included Waller Hayes, county commissioner, Boardman, and Mrs. Jeanne Mogy, Milton, district director of Oregon Home Economics Extension Council. Entertainment was furnished by the lone Kookie Kutters kitchen band. Group singing was led by Mrs. Jean Nelson with Mrs. Marjorie Miller ac companying Home Extension Unit lessons for 1968-69 were announced by the Morrow County Extension office to include: Meat Series Part II, The Growing World of Packaging, Basic Landscaping, Part II, New Fabrics and Fin ishes, and Care of Resilient Floors. A tentative program of workshops will include: refin ishing wood furniture, pattern fitting and alteration and sew ing with knits. Special game prizes were won by Mrs. Bill Heath and Teresu Monahan. Other honored Ruests were the bride's mother, Mrs. Dall Turn er of Heppner, her gandmother, Mrs. Jake Schultz of ITalrie City, and Mrs. Sam Johnston, mother of the groom. The new Mrs. Johnston, whose wedding was an event of Tues day, May 21. Is the former Mur llyn Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dail Turner of Heppner. Abrams' Relatives Here for Graduation Visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Abrams were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Abrams of Ev erett, Wn., and her mother, Mrs. Sara Morrow of Prescott, Ariz., all of whom came to attend graduation exercises last Thurs day evening, in which the Ab rams' daughter, Frances, was a graduating senior. Following her graduation, Frances plans to spend part of the summer doing Junior counseling work at Cove church camp. Mrs. Morrow, who arrived by plane in Pendleton on Monday, May 20, will remain in Heppner to visit until June 1, whan she will depart for Palo Alto, Calif., to visit other relatives. Worthy Advisor Terrie has chosen the colors blue and silver for her term of office and 'The Impossible Dream" as her theme. The hall was decorated with appropriate floral arrange ments and her theme in silver letters was offset with silver Parents of the new worthy ad visor were escorted to the east where Mrs. O'Connor was pre sented an orchid corsage and Mr. O'Connor received a bouton nierre. The parents expressed their appreciation and presented their daughter with a gift. Several distinguished guests were present. During the good of the order, Miss O'Connor explained her colors and her theme, and pre sented Willa Johnson with her past worthy advisor's Pin. The lone Chor'alettes sang three numbers. Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen, mother advisor, presented Willa a gift in tribute for her work of the past term, and Terrie fol lowed with appreciation gifts to Mrs. Halvorsen and Miss John son. Centering the refreshment ta ble was a large white cake dec orated with the theme and blue and silver stars and flowers, flanked by spring flowers and j silver tapers. Serving were Mrs. Fannie Griffith, Mrs. Koy w. Lindstrom and Mrs. Kenneth Presiding at the guest book was Luann Clark. Cliff Clark and Larry Snider were in charge of the programs. Observance Planned For Randall Martins An oDen house and old fash ioned potluck dinner is being planned to honor Mr. ana Mrs Randall Martin on the observ ance of their 30th wedding an niversary on Saturday, June 8, Planning the arrangements are their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Wheelhouse. It will be held at the Ran dall Martin home on North Fork of Upper McKay Creek, 14 miles east of Pilot Rock, from 12:00 noon throughout the afternoon and evening. All friends and rel atives of the honored couple are invited to attend. The couple asks that there be no gifts. Nichols Announce Daughter's Betrothal Mr. and Mrs. William Nichols are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Linda, to Mike Dufloth, son of Mrs. Carol Barrett of Sacramento, Calif. Linda plans to complete her senior year at Heppner Hign school next year. Her fiance at tended schools in California and spent two years in service in the Navy. During the summer he will be employed on the Ralph Cram Ranch near lone. The gathering was planned as a farewell party for the couple, who will make their home In Pendleton after June 1, where he will tie employed at Firestone Tire Co. Samples has worked a 4 a mechanic at Heppner Auto Sales since the family moved to Ileppner about two and half years ago. The couple was presented a gift from the Jaycee organiza tion by president Jerry Hollo mon in apreclation of their out standing service to the club.
