Kathv Keene is valedictorian and Janice Snider is saluta- torian. At Heppner High school the Class of 1968 has 41 on its roster. Commencement exercises for them will be in the Heppner High Gymnasium Thursday night, May 23, at 8 p.m. John Rawlins is valedictor ian and Merri Lee Jacobs is salutatorian. Twenty-three will receive diplomas at Riverside High school's commencement at the A. C. Hough ton school cafeteria, Irrigon, on Friday night, May 24, also at 8 p.m. Linda Tatone is valedictorian and co-salutatorians are Betty Eppenbach and George Kenney. ' Speaker at the lone com mencement Is William F. Mad- dron, owner of Industrial Litho, Eugene, and author of the book. "Vacation Air Mexico." He has served as chairman of the State Board of Aeronautics and is a member of the Central Lane Planning Commission. A former principal of Hepp ner High, Gordon R. Pratt, now of Monmouth, will return to ad dress students at commence ment here tonight (Thursday). Pratt is now principal of Cen tral High school of Monmouth Independence. Speaker at Riverside High school's commencement is Jack Rye of Eastern Oregon College, La uranae. Presenting the class at lone High school is Harold Beggs, principal, ana Don Mcmigott, chairman of the Morrow coun ty school board, awards the dip lomas. Remainder of the program ln eludes the salutatory and vale dictory addresses; a soio, "Clair de Lune," by Darrell James: a musical selection, "No Man Is An Island," by The Choralettes; presentation of awards by Prin cipal Beggs; pledge of alleg iance to the flag, led by Willa Johnson, class vice president; in vocation by Kerry Peterson, sen ior class president; and bene diction by Chris Lovgren, stu dent body president. Procession al and recessional are played by Gene Rietmann. Principal Richard Carpenter will present the class and awards at Heppner High school, and Jack Sumner, a director of the school board, will present diplomas. In addition to the ad dress by the former principal, salutatory will be given by Miss Jacobs and valedictory by Raw lins. The class will sing the mu sical selection, "Born Free." In vocation and benediction will be by Father Raymond Beard. The Heppner High and Junior High School Bands will play the pro cessional and recessional. Roy R. Kirk. Nancy Doherty, Russell Kil kenny, and Bob Dobbs have all chosen the University of Ore gon to further their education. Bob plans to "work as little as possible this summer," then go into Secondary Education. Nan cy will work this summer, which may cause her to learn to drive a wheat truck. In the fall she will head for Eugene. She says that she "will probably flunk out the first term," but I doubt if she will. Russell will take a liberal arts course, then malor in psychology. I EASTERN OREGON College I at La Grande will call Earl Mr. John Rawlins Ayres, who will attend there a year, men transter to OSU to major in forestry; Debbie Young and Christine Munkers, who plan to take secretarial science and Bill McLeod. Four students will enter Southern Oregon College at Ash land. Jim Sherman will major in music and minor in music education. After graduation he hopes to go into sound engin eering. John Van Winkle will take Business Administration and Bill Stoekard, general cours es. Paula Siewert will spend the summer visiting relatives, then f o to Ashlund. She will take a iberal arts course, planning la ter to transfer to the University of Oregon. Frank Lovgren will study po lice science at Treasure Valley Community College. BLUE MOUNTAIN Communitv College In Pendleton Is the des tiny of several members of the class. Three girls, Kathy Matth ews, Vk'kle Robinson, and Mary fierce win study dental assist ance. Kathy may then take a secretarial course; Mary hopes to later become an airline host ess. Alfred Drake will take a two- year Ag Technology course at BMCC. then transfer to OSU to study agriculture before return ing to operate the family ranch. Linda Heatn will also attend BMCC, taking a general busi ness coursse. RoRer Britt, now working at mill, will be busy this sum mer also rodeoing. He will at tend BMCC next fall, as will Matt Hughes, who will study livestock production. BONNIE KESSELL Plans to go to the Oregon College of Ed ucation to study elementary ed ucation. Susan Starks will attend Northwestern College of Busi ness for one year, then hopes to be a secretary. She wants to travel. Terry Corbin plans to go to Portland Community College and study either architectural drawing or police science. Louella Roark will attend Portland State. THE NAVY is the destination of 'Randy Stillman and Ivan Ad lard. Mike Davidson will work at the mill. Alvin Vinson will "engage as a pioneer minister and work at a part-time secular lob." Norita Marquardt will finish the schooling she missed dur ing her Junior year, then she will either visit relatives or en ter a school so she can take vo cal lessons next spring. Rita Pettyjohn will attend the Pendleton College of Beauty. Earl Struckmeier will attend Blue Mountain Community Col lege where he will study Police Science. Bob Van Winkle will work at the mill.
