The Assembly of God choir. under the direction of Mrs. La Velle Partlow, presented an Eas ter cantata entitled,' 'No Great er Love . Those having solo parts were David Kenney, Mrs, Perry Pummel and Zeoha War ner. Bruce Buchanan narrated the Easter story. The younger members of the Sunday School aiso presented a snort program of songs and exercises. Volunteer firemen were called out Saturday morning to a gar age fire at the Harry Towers place. The building was com pletely destroyed but was for tunately empty at the time. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Llnnell are the parents of a daughter. Tia Anne, born April 12 and weigh ing 7 lb., 9 oz. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Stewart, Tommy and Sharon, returned this week from a trip to Calif ornia where they visited friends and relatives. The Easter Parade, sponsored by the Irrigon Lions club, was enjoyed by many on Saturday. Cash awards of a quarter were given to boys and girls having outstanding costumes. Among these were bicycle riders, Cub Scouts and horseback riders. The Brant family came in a covered wagon dressed as pioneers. They were joined there by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Schwend of Hardin. Mont., and Jack Sar gent of Nampa. The Sargents returned home Monday. PFC and Mrs. Marvin Dale Saddler are the proud parents of a daughter, Vickie Ann, born March 2b in beatue. sne weigh ed 7 lb., 15 oz. Mr. Saddler is serving with the Army and Is stationed In Germany. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Mar vin Saddler of Kinzua and Mrs Doris Kaufman of Seattle. Great Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs Rho Bleakman of John Day and the great, great grandfather is Dave Musgrave of John Day. Mr. and Mrs. Jiggs Bowman and family went to Pendleton Thursday evening to meet their son Pvt. Victor Bowman who is home on leave. He had been sta tioned in Georgia. On Friday, the Bowman family went to Stanfield to spend the Easter week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Espinola and other relatives. Mrs. Marvin Hines and Mrs. Everett Stewart were business visitors to Heppner Friday. Mrs. Robert Kelso and Mrs. Dan Bell and children were bus iness visitors to The Dalles Fri dav. Mr. and Mrs. Kooert msiaa and daughter of Spokane spent several days last week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Nistad. Mrs. Marvin Hines entertain ed the members of her Sunday School class Thursday with an Easter egg hunt on the church lawn. The children were given baskets with candv eggs to take home. Assisting Mrs. Hines were Mrs. John Meadows, Mrs. Kicn- ard Sargent, Mrs. Norwood Watts, and Mrs. Eugene Day, Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Baker of John Day spent Easter visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wham and daughter Vicki. Mrs. Earl Norris and Mrs, Frank DeMeritt went to Hepp ner Tuesday where Mrs. DeMer itt entered the Heppner hospital for treatment. Rev. and Mrs. James Billings of Santa Cruz, Calif., visited last Tuesday with his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jor dan. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Van Arsdale and family and Rick Reece went to Joseph Saturday to vis it with Mr. and Mrs. Rick Reece. While there Mr. Van Arsdale had medical care in Walla Wal la. . . Tom Jordan went to Portland last Thursday where he entered the Veterans Hospital for treat ment. The Friendship Club was en tertained Thursday evening at the erade school with Pat Mc- Minn as hostess. High was won by Barbara Mortimore, low by Carol Norris, and floating by Ruth Jordan and Dorris Stub blefield. Others playing were Sharon Bell, Sue Mattison, Rose Merry Nelson, Dinah Jackson, Deena Reid, Pat Van Arsdale, and Naomi Rice. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Creason and Mrs. Wanda Bell of Myrtle Creek visited Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Slim Rhoton. Mrs. Creason and Mrs. Bell lived in Kinzua several years ago and were known then as the Lud wig girls. Mark Jordan of Mitchell visit ed Sunday at the Tom Jordans. Mr. and Mrs. Earl JNorris went to Prineville Monday where they were called by the death of his mother, Mrs. Lulu Norris. Among those attending tne Homemakers Spring Festival in Mitchell Saturday were Mrs. Lois Carlisle, Mrs. Dolores Mead ows, Mrs. Marl Boring, Mrs. Deena Reid and daughter D'- Rina, Mrs. Meridel Wham, Mrs. Virginia Kelso, Mrs. Belinda Da hill, Miss Jackie Sitton, and Miss Verla Conner. Mr. and Mrs. Don MeConnell and family went to Portland Friday to spend Easter with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Heath. Mrs. Heath is Mr. McConnell's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Barzee and family and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oyler and son Don spent Easter with Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Boyer and family of Cornelius. The Nimble Thimble 4-H sew ing club had their meeting at the home of their leader Mrs. Marj Boring on April 10. Donna Meadows pressed some of her material and she and Marsha Freeman worked at the sewing machine. Linda Rice cut out her pattern and Mary MeConnell cut out her collar and cuffs. Sara Bowman was excused from the meeting because of a sore fing Club Discusses . Coming Projects By VIRGINIA KELSO (Held over from last week) KINZUA Regular meeting of the Camp 5 Womena club was held last Wednesday at the Camp 5 Community Hall with Dolores Wlmer aa hostess for the meeting. Committee reports were given on the refreshment stand at the lake and the community card party. A scholarship committee was appointed and the applica tlons were read. One was select ed to receive the scholarship wnicn win be presented on Commencement night by Mrs. Barbara Mortimore. There will be a community card party in April with the date to be set at a later time and the hostesses will be Pal Van Arsdale and Barbara Mor timore. Barbara also received the door prize for the evening. There will be an Easter Sun rise Service Sunday morning at 6:00 o'clock on the top of Kin zua mountain. Afterward every one is to adjourn to the church annex for Easter breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Benson went to Portland Friday to meet their son. Seaman Ronald J. Ben son, who is on leave after com pleting boot camp training at San Diego, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rice went to Portland Friday for Mrs. Rice to keep a medical appointment Mrs. Allan Guinn and daugh ters of Omak. Wash., visited with friends and relatives here and in Fossil the latter part of last week and when they return ed to Omak took Sally and Con nie iaenroeder home with them. The girls were all on spring va cation. Mr. and Mrs. Jerrv Roe of Pen. dleton were week-end guests of Mrs. Koe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Browning. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thoring- ton of Lake Oswego visited Fri day and Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wham.
