Coach Holland said players have performed well In the fielding department but their hitting and pitching thus far have left something to be de sired. The Mustangs had a full squad for the first two games, but against John Day they had to do without the services of Russ Kil kenny, last year's number one pitcher for the Mustangs. Mason, who has appeared twice on the Ed Sullivan TV show and other network televis ion programs, entertained with ventriloquism as well as the pup pet acts. The students were shown how a ventriloquist's dummy is con structed and how a ventriloquist throws his voice. Other highlights of the show were a sketch with Reggie DIx on, billed as the "world's smart est dummy," and a galaxy of puppets in a new version of "Punch and Judy." Mason is on his first road tour in a number of years. Prin cipal Al Martin of the school said that this program proved to be one of the best presented here. IB Tine Tests Tuesday, April 9 A tuberculosis case-find i n g program is planned for Morrow county schools in April by the Morrow County Health Depart ment, under the direction of Dr. L. D. Tibbies, health officer. A signed consent slip from the parent or guardian is necessary before the test can be given. Grades scheduled for tuberc ulin Tine testing are 1, 7, and 12. Parents are notified of re sults if a positive reaction is found, and a follow-up chest x ray recommended. The tests are read from 48 to 72 hours after being given. Materials for tuberculin Tine testing are provided by the Mor row County Council of the East ern Region, Oregon TB and Health Association, through Christmas seal sales. Proposed schedule for testing is as follows: Tuesday, April 9, at Heppner Grade school, 8:45 a-m.: Heppner High school to follow. lone Grade and High schools will follow the clinic at Heppner on this day, about 10:30 a.m. Tine testing for Boardman Grade school, Riverside High, and A. C. Houghton Elementary schools was done April 2. This is an invitational track meet for all the schools In the Milton Freewater area, with A-l. A-2, and B schools participating. On Monday the Heppner track men came In second at a meet at Umatilla. Schools participat ing were Heppner, Pilot Rock, and Umatilla. Pilot Rock scored C! points, lleppner 56, and Uma tilla 49. DORRIS GRAVES, Morrow County Chairman This is a standard recipe that must be used by All Contestants CHOCOLATE MEDALLION CAKE: 34 cup cocoa 34 cup boiling water V2 teaspoons baking soda 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon vanilla 14 cup margarine 14 cup vegetable shortening 2 cups sugar 2 eggs, unbeaten 2 cups sifted cake flour 18 teaspoon salt PREHEAT . . . oven to 350 degrees. GREASE . . . and flour 2 nine-inch layer cake pans CREAM . . . margarine and shortening togeth er, add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. ADD . . . ee:e:s, one at a time, beating well after each addition. SIFT . . . flour and salt together; set aside. MAKE .'. . a smooth paste of the cocoa and boiling water; cool slightly. STIR . . . baking soda into buttermilk and add alternately with the sifted flour to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. ADD . . . cocoa-water mixture and blend thoroughly. BLEND ... in vanilla. POUR . . . into prepared pans. BAKE . . . about 35 minutes. SOUR CREAM FROSTING: 2y2 cups sifted confectioners sugar 34 cup cake flour 12 tsp. salt 13 cup soft butter 2 tsp. vanilla 13 cup dairy sour cream 1 square (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled. Mix all ingredients, except chocolate, until smooth. Then add melted chocolate. If neces sary, stir in 1 to 2 tbsp. sour cream until frosting is of spreading consistency.
