After a couple weeks visit there, they went to Olney, 111., in vlKlt at the home of her ol n et brother and sistcr-ln-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde bhamnari Sterling O'Dav. lecturer and writor. udll Dresent his most dV' namic program on Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War at a National School Assembly here in the school gymnasium March 8, at 9 a.m. Assisted by his wife Emille. he will present a film, "F.nlsndpR in the Life of Line oln." Mr. O'Day and his wife spent three years ana iraveiea 20,000 miles in compiling and filming in color this story. He has lectured throughout the United States on many historical subjects, but the life of Abra ham Lincoln is his favorite. He will precede the progra m wun a 15 minute talk on the humor ous side of Lincoln. The film has a musical background .by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. The entire narration is persent ed live from the stage. Parents and friends are invited to at tend. There were four tables of pi nochle in play at the card party held at the Greenfield Grange hall last week, sponsored by the Home Economics Club of the grange. Mrs. Glen Carpenter was the hostess. High prize went to Mrs. Bud Mlchels and low was won by Mrs. Walter Wyss. Mrs. Walter Hayes and Mrs Ed Kuhn won the pinochle prizes. LaVerne (Pete) Peterson has returned home from a Pendle ton hospital and Is recuperating from major surgery. Week-end guests at the Peterson home were Mr. and Mrs. John Duncan of Portland. Jay Cox of Seattle, Wash, vis ited overnight Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zearl Gil lespie. He also visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball, Sr. Sunday af ternoon they all went to Condon to visit Jess Coats, brother-in-law of Mrs. Ball, who is in a nursing home there. Mrs. Elvin Ely returned home Saturday from a ten days visit in Seattle, Wash., with her son Allen and family Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Zunkcr and sons Buzz, Herbie, Lex and Leiton of Kennewick, Wash., were Saturday visitors at the home of Zunker's mother, Mrs. Guy Ferguson. Mrs. Lafe Smith and Mrs. Clarence Thomas of Pendleton were overnight visitors last Fri day at the home of their sister, Mrs. Frank Marlow. Mrs. Arnin Hug was honored with a surprise birthday party Monday afternoon by a group of friends, who included Mrs. Charles Anderegg of Pendleton, Mrs. Harold Rash and Mrs. El vin Ely. Sidney Ferguson of Boardman and Mrs. Theda Ramsey of Quin cy. Wash., were united in mar riage February 23 at Prosser, Wash. In Medford, they vis ited with her father, Arthur My ers, and Mrs. Rood's two sis ters. While in Ashland, they al so visited with former Kinzua residents. Joe Schott and his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Lillian) Armson. Arm son is a professor at Southern Oregon college. Irrigon, and husband of the former Miss Janice Arnold of Eugene., has returned to San Diego, Calif., aboard the repair ship USS Klondike following a seven month deployment off the coast of Vietnam. While off Vietnam the Klon dike nerved as a unit of the U. S. Seventh Fleet. Its mission was to furnish repair services and logistic support to ships of the Seventh Fleet. The Klondike Is a floating shipyard whose principle ad vantage Is mobility. With this mobility the repair ship also services ships in Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan; Kaohslung, Tai wan; and Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines.
