Mrs. Joe Tatone was hostess for the Boardman Tllllcum Club Tuesday night of last week at tier home. Guests Included Mrs. Dennis Gronqulst, Mrs. Frank Bates, Mrs. LaVern Peterson and Mrs. O. A. Childers. Plans were made for the annual Sweetheart Dinner to be February 11 in the form of a Progressive dinner. It will start at the home of Mrs. Ron Daniels, then to the home of Mrs. Zoe Billings for the sal ad course, to Mrs. Dewey Wests home for the main course, and to Mrs. Ralph Skoubo's for des sort Mrs. Roy Partlow, Mrs. Ber nard Donovan and Mrs. West were appointed on a committee to interview candidates for prin cess for the Morrow County Fair court. A discussion was held on the possible purchase of a re suscitator for the fire depart ment Mrs. Konaia mac arm Mrs. Partlow were appointed to investigate getting a demonstra tion of one. Mrs. Black and Mrs. Childers were appointed on a committee to see about getting commemor ative plates with pictures of the Riverside High school on them to sell. . Lexington HEC Officers Named By DELPHA JONES LEXINGTON Lexington Grange meeting Saturday even ing started with a pancake sup per cooked and served by the men of the grange. Preceding the meeting Ed Hunt was in stalled as steward and Alfred Nelson, Jr., as a member of the executive board. During the meeting Mrs. Charles C. Jones, District 6 HEC chairman, installed the follow ing officers: Mrs. .riorence Millan, chairman; Mrs. A. F. Maleske, vice-chairman; Mrs. Wiibur Steagall, secretary, and Mrs. Kenneth Smouse, treasurer. Following the meeting, a mo vie on the interesting and beau tiful vacation spots for Oregon was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jenson of Waitsburg, Wash., were call ers in Lexington at the home of her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Way and oth er relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Way of Hillsboro were recent visitors in Lexington. . Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lacey of Milton-Freewater were recent callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones. Deadline Hearing On Student Contest Less than three weeks remain for students to enter Pacific Northwest Bell's "What will it be like bv 1976?" planning con test. Deadline for contest entries is February 15. The planning contest is open to Oregon students in grades 9 through 12. Judges have been previously announced for each of the five geographical districts in which prizes will be award ed. First through fourth prizes are $500, $250, $150 and $100, respectively, in each district. In addition, 16 finalists in each district will receive a $25 U. S. Savings Bond. Governor Tom McCall will make formal award presenta tions to the first four winners of each district at ceremonies in Salem on April 25. Winning entries will be com piled into booklet form for use by planning agencies and indi viduals engaged m planning ei forts throughout the state. HEC Committee Named The Home Economics Club of Greenfield Grange met recently at the grange hall at 1:30. Mrs. Chub Warren and Mrs. Leonard Bedord were hostesses. Visitors Included Mrs. Guy Ferguson, Mrs. Eugene Rlsley and Mrs. Rollin Bishop. A thank you letter from the State Hospital in Pendleton was read for the Christmas donation by the club. Peterson Works On Rural Committee A talk on the significance of recreation in the Oregon econ omy and others related to the future development of rural areas of the state were on the program at a meeting of the Rural Area Development Com mittee in Corvallis on January 19. Nine serve on tne com mittee, and Peterson invited the group to come to the eastern part of the state for its next meeting in order to become bet ter acquainted with this part of the state. Among the speakers were Dr. H. H. Stoevener, assistant pro fessor of agricultural economics at OSU, who talked on the sig nificance of recreation; Dr. Don ald A. Watson, director of the Bureau of Business and Econom ic Research, University of Ore gon; and Dr. Emerty Castle, head of agricultural economics and director of the Water Re sources Institute, OSU.
