Over 200 people attended the program ana reception, which was held in the Vert Auditor ium and Club Room. Past his tory of Bushee Chapter, estab lished in January of 1893, was reviewed as an interesting part of the program by Mrs. E. J. Caspersen, worthy matron of the chapter. On Saturday, January 20, Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson attended a reception for Gloria Twelth, grand chaplain of the Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Portland, held at the Eastgate Masonic Temple. Club to Hear Talk On Identification The first meeting of the year of the Rock Hound club will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the former library building. The program for the evening will be presented by Mrs. George Miller, who will speak on Iden tification of a variety of stones. Hosts for the evening meeting will be Mr. and Mrs. Ervin An derson, who will serve refresh ments. Guests are welcome to attend this meeting. Groshens, cele brated his seventh birthday Saturday afternoon at his home with a party given in his hon or by his mother. Young friends who attended the party were Ronald Young, Craig Robinson, Jerry Baker, Jody Jensen, Jay Devln, Mike Lott, Mike and Rene Jensen, and brothers of Scott, Greg and Harry Groshens. Games and favors were enjoy ed by the boys during the af ternoon, followed with refresh ments of cake and Ice cream, served by Mrs. Groshens and Mrs. Lylc Jensen. Jaycees Entertain At Skating Party Morrow County Jaycees held their monthly social with a pot luck supner. followed by an evening of cards and roller skat ing at the Fair pavilion, Satur day evening, January 20. About 25 members and wives attended the affair, with Al Os min serving as chairman. County Treasurer Chosen for Honor Mrs. Sylvia E. McDanieL Mor row county treasurer, was re cently selected to be among a chosen group from this area whose biography will appear In the 1968 edition of "Outstand ing Personalities of the West and Midwest." She received the certificate authorizing this honor on Jan uary 18, "in recognition of past achievements, outstanding abil ity, and service to community, state and nation, worthy of note by other citizens." Mrs. McDanicl also had the honor in 1966 of being listed in the 4th edition of "Who's Who of American Women." Be sides holding the responsible of fice of county treasurer for sev eral years, she has also been active in many of the women's service groups and church or ganizations in the community. Mrs. Tom Huston. Appointment was made of Mrs. M. N. Kirk to act a dep. utv president to Install officers who were unablo to be present for the Joint Installation cere monise on January 13 with Wil lows Lodge No. Wi. lOOK. Assist Ing Mrs. Kirk as deputy marsh all was Mra. Larry Cook. The following were installed Into their respective stations: Miss Ksther BereHtrom, warden: Mrs. Lincoln Nash, color bearer, and Mrs. Dean Connor, musician. Nearly all of the new slate of officers were present to assist Mrs. Huston in the beclnnlng of her new year of leadership. The new noble grand read her list of committees to serve In the various phases of Kebekah work. Mrs. Ed La Trace was elected trustee for a three-year term, and Mrs. McMurtry, out going treasurer, gave a year-end inventory report. The trustees were applauded for their hours of work in compiling this list ing. Mrs. La Trace, chairman of the installation dinner, reported that over 70 persons were served. She also thanked the lodge for the past noble grand Jewel present ed to her by Mrs. Kirk, who ex plained the symbols of the em blem of the service Jewel and commended Mrs. La Trace on a perfect attendance record during her year of leadership. A letter was read from Mrs. Lulu Johnson, a veteran member of Sans Souci, who makes her home in Hawaii. Mrs. Johnson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hinton, were pioneers of the Heppner area and charter mem bers of the lodge over 80 years ago. A contribution was voted to the Millie Doollttle Memorial Fund at the Christian church, in memory of Mrs. Doolittle, a loved and faithful member of the lodge for over 60 years. The charter will be draped in spe cial ceremonies at the February 2 meeting. A proclamation from sover eign grand lodge was read by Mrs. Gerald Rood urging all branches of the order to observe during the month of January the 186th anniversary of the birth day of Thomas Wiley, the founder of Odd Fellowship. To comply with this decree, a can dle lighting ceremony was held by Mrs. Cook as the proclama tion was read. Following the reading and ac ceptance of the auditing report the secretaries were commended for work throughout the year in maintaining and keeping rec ords and books in good order. Mrs. Huston was hostess for the social hour, assisted by Mrs. Letha Archer. Club Holds Meeting At Bergstrom Home Mrs. Ruth Bergstrom was hos tess to 12 members of the Car nation club of the Degree of Honor Protective Assosciatlon at her home January 17, for their meeting. A short business meeting was conducted, after which members enjoyed an evening of games, with Mrs. Alice Luttrell winning high score. The door prize was won by Mrs. Carl King. next meeting or tne Degree oi Honor Protective Association will be February 13, at the Episcopal parish hall, with Mrs. Bill Farra as hostess. The carnation ciud will hold its next meeting Feb ruary 21 at the home of Mrs. Farra. Omitted from the last club re port was the name of Mrs. Cecil Jones, who was elected to the office of second vice president. Youth Slate Dance After Saturday Game Youth of the Heppner, lone, and Condon areas are invited to attend "The Happening," a teen age dance being held at All Saints' Episcopal parish hall im mediately following the Hepp-ner-Condon basketball game here Saturday night, January 27. Entertainment for the dance will be provided by the Condon "Banshees, a youtn comDo. ao mission at the door will be $1 per person. The dance will be held rrom 10 p.m. to l a.m., ana is under the sponsorship of the Inter-Church Youth group, com prised of young people of All Saints' Episcopal and the Luth eran churches. The group is un der the leadership of Rev. Dirk Rinehart and Rev. Don Peder-son. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Wonser and Robin visited in Bend Friday through Sunday at the home of his parents. Ideas for using antiques In decorating, refinlshing antiques, and dis playing collectors Items were part of tho program. In addition to Mrs. Klncald's collection, Items made and dec orated by Mrs. Birdlne Tullis, Mrs. Delta llubcr, Mrs. Elaine Kletmann, and by Jim Johnson were also on display. During the business meeting plans wer made for the annual benefit party to aid the Crippled Children's Hospital school in Eugene. Mrs. Maxine Kictmann, co-hostess, served refreshments to the 15 members In attendance. Altar Society Plans For Coming Party The annual dessert and card party sponsored by St. Patrick's Catholic Altar Society will be Monday. January 29, at 8 p.m. Mrs. Bill Kenny and Mrs. Randy Lott will be co-chairmen for the annual public affair, which is to be held in the St. Patrick's parish hall. Bridge and pinochle will be in play. Kit will graduate In June as an animal biologist and Duane Is working on his mas ter's degree in the same field. While the visitors were In town, Mrs, Elaine S. George en tertained at dinner honoring Kit's birthday.
