Jill Padberg Installed As Worthy Advisor Jill Padberg was installed new worthy advisor of Ruth As sembly No. 50, Order of Rain bow for Girls, at formal cere monies Sunday afternoon, Jan uary 7, in the Heppner Masonic hall. Nineteen other young la dies were seated with her to make up the slate of elected and appointed officers for the winter term. For her installation the at tractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elden Padberg, Lexington, chose red and white as her col . ors, and "The Greatest of These is Love" as her theme of office. She greeted her fellow members and guests in a sheer floor length gown of red chiffon. Miss Padere was escorted to the altar by her father for the crowning ceremonies performed by master counselor Boyd Thom as, Jr., of the Blue Mountain Chapter of DeMolay, Hermiston. This was followed by the "Arch of Steel" by nine other mem bers of the chapter, assisted by their dad advisor, Boyd J. Thom as, Sr. ,. Lynda Orwick, immediate past worthy advisor, served as installing officer, assisted by Linda Heath, installing marsh al; Willa Johnson of the lone Assembly No. 89, installing re corder; Bonnie Morgan of lone, installing chaplain, and Mrs. C. C. Carmichael, installing music Ian. . Other officers who were in stalled for this term were the following: Sara Miller, worthy associate advisor; Teresa Harsh man, charity; Patti Howell, hope; Sue Melby, faith; Jana Lee Scott, recorder; Lynda Or wick, treasurer; Glenda Van Winkle, chaplain, and Karla Weatherford, drill eader. Those holding the color sta tions are Linda Cooper, love; Karen Cox, religion; Jerri Keith ley, nature; Dovy Alderman, im mortality: Jill Scott, fidelity; Tami Meador, patriotism; Teresa Wright, service; Marie Van Mar ter, outer observer; Cindy Har sin, confidential observer; Lisa Cutsforth, choir director, and Christy Taylor, musician. Serving as mother advisor is Mrs. Rachel Harnett. Mrs. Sam Miller, accompanied by Mrs. Carmichael, dedicated a vocal solo, "The Lord's Prayer" to the newly crowned advisor. Present to observe the cere monies were Jill's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Padberg; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Padberg; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Padberg, and an aunt, Mrs. Archie Padberg. Following special introduc tions and acknowledgements, presentation of a past worthy advisor's pin was made to Lynda Orwick, and an ivory gavel was presented the new worthy advisor from her par ents. A guest of honor was Mrs. Bill Cox, worthy matron of Ruth Chapter No. 32, Order of the Eastern Star. Also present were Mrs. Dick Wilkinson, Grand Ruth of OES; Berl Akers, wor shipful master of lone Masonic Rebekohs Make Plans For Coming Dinner; Joint Installation Several items of business wore under discussion at mo iai regular meeting of Sana Soucl Rebrkah Lodge on Friday even ing, January 5. Mrs. M La Trace, nobla grand, welcomed 19 members and throe visitors from Holly Rouekah lodge, Lex ington. . . Plans wore discussed for the annual Installation dinner, hold Jointly with Willows IOOr lodge, for members, their fam ilies and friends. The dinner Is planned for Saturday evening, January 13, at 6:30 p.m., with a joint Installation of new of ficers to follow at 8:00 pm. The lodges will furnish rolls and ham, with the rest of the din ner to be solicited among mem bers. District Deputy Presidents, Mrs. Omar Rletmann and Her man Green, will be among those attending. A special ceremony was the draping of the charter In mem ory of Mrs. Claude (Margaret) Buschke, who had been a mem ber over 30 years, with earlier membership in the Mistletoe Rebekah lodge of Hardman. As a memorial to Mrs. Buschke the lodge voted a contribution be sent to th lOOF-Kebekah Edu cational Fund, which Is made available to help any needed young person in furthering his education. Mrs. Scott Furlong and Mrs. La Trace served as hostesses during the social hour. Completing the current term of office, Mrs. La Trace expres sed appreciation to her officers and presented each or tnem with a white milk glass bud vase. Gifts were also presented to four members with perfect attendance, Mrs. Tom Huston, Esther Bergstrom, Mrs. Lincoln Nash and Mrs. La Trace. for the dinner Includes Mrs. Archie Padberg, Mrs. Mary Bail-J ey, Mrs. La Trace and Mrs. fur long. On the decorating commit tee are Mrs. Huston and Mrs. Gerald Rood. The Rainbow Girls will assist in serving. Mrs. Hutchins re mained in Portland for the week and Bonnie Akers, Grand Con fidential Observer of Oregon. A large white cake, decorated with red roses and inscriDea with the chosen installation theme, centered the attractive reception table, flanked by tall red tapers. Distinctive arrange ments 01 ongni reu poinseiuas made of red feathers, combined with green fernery, provided at tractive decorations to the serv ing table and about the rooms. Small wristlets of the matching feather flowers were also pre sented the newly installed offi cers. Cutting and serving cake was Mrs. Gene Bissenger, Portland; Mrs. Lee Padberg presided at the punch bowl, and Mrs. Oris Padberg served coffee and tea. Assisting with the serving and in the kitchen were Mrs. Dean Hunt, Mrs. William Van Winkle and Mrs. Orville Cutsforth. Miss Judy Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Jones, has transferred her studies from O.C.E. in Monmouth to the Uni versity of Oregon in Eugene. Miss Jones, a sophomore this year, has chosen speech pathol ogy and audiology as her ma jor field of study. to receive medical treatment while staying at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Angel and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grosh ens and family of Portland brought his mother home Satur day night and remained to vis it at the Groshens home for the week-end. Dan McQuarrie, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. McQuarrie, left Friday, January 5, to attend Bend Community College. Pfeiffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Pfeiffer of Heppner. Miss VonArx is a 19C7 gradu ate of Pilot Rock High school and Is presently enrolled at Blue Mountain Community Col lege. Pendleton. Her fiance, a 1965 graduate of Heppner High school, has re cently completed two years ac tive duty in the U. S. Coast Guard, and Is also now enroll ed at BMCC. No wedding date has been set by the engaged couple. Mrs. Amanda Duvall and her sister, Mrs. Lula White of Pilot Rock, traveled to Portland on Saturday, December 30, to at tend the church wedding of their nephew, Jim Wald, to Miss Betty Langford. After returning to Heppner Sunday evening, Mrs. White remained to visit at the Duvall home before returning on Tuesday to her home near Pilot Rock.
