So said President Herman Winter of the Ilepnner-Morrow county Chamber of Commerce following presentation of a number of vocal selections by 30 Ileppner Klementary school children at the December 18 luncheon meeting of the organ lzation. The children were directed by Mrs. Ola Mae Groshcns, vocal music Instructor, and saner sev eral numbers appropriate for the Christmas season. Among ...I.. I CI.. . Nistad passed out completion certificates after the final class held at the school here. The class was "Elements of Acci dent Control." Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Keilhley over the Christmas holidays were their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Keed and dau ghter, Rutin a of McMlnnvillc. Mrs. Reed, the former Kay Keith ley, remained in Heppner to vis it with her parents for a short time. Also joining the Keith leys at their home on Christ mas day were their sons-in-law nnd daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pettyjohn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel McLachlan and family, and their daughter, Mrs. Jo Simmons and children, all of Heppner. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan McCurdy over the Christmas holiday week-end were their son-in-law and dau ghter, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Moy er and daughters Randy and Cindy of La Grande, and their daughter Karen, who is a stu dent at Oregon State University. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Moore and family spent Christmas day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murry Moore, of Pendleton. Joining the group were three sisters of Tim Moore and their families. Twenty-six enjoyed the Christmas dinner there. Mr. and Mrs. Oris Crisp were hosts at their home on Christ mas day to their son-in-law nnd daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cline and family, and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. nnd Mrs. Bruce Griffith and family. Also joining the family were Mr. Griffith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Griffith of Seneca. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Payne, at The Dalles. Mr. Payne was brought home Sunday from the hospital where he had been undergoing treatment, and this made the family complete. Miss Marilyn Scalese, Portland, friend of LcRoy, Jr., returned to her home on the week-end after vis iting with the Gardners here for a week and assisting in Gard ner's Men's Wear. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Tibbies of Portland were Christmas week end visitors in Heppner at the home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. D. Tibbies. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Driscoll and son Jeff of Gresham, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Brunning and dau ghters Jodie and Julie of Port land, and Tim Driscoll, a rtu- dent at O.S.C. in Corvnllis were all home to share Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Driscoll at their parental home, along with Mrs. Driscoll's parents. Maynard Hamilton went to Heppner Wednesday, where he entered Pioneer Memorial hos pital for surgery. He is report ed to be making satisfactory progress. Thelma Wllllnms left Monday for Pasco where she will stay with her son Walter and fam ily for a time. Thirteen members of the M.M.M. club met for their reg ular meeting last Thursday, at the home of Mae McWillls. A gift exchange will be January 18. at Mrs. Bert Settles home. The Monument Community church presented Its annual Christmas program last Sunday evening with special treats of randy and nuts for the children. Edna Moore and Darlene Boy. er drove to La Grande last Fri day to watch Elmer Moore play basketball. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Croker drove to John Day Friday to shop. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Corley of Hamilton returned to their home after visiting his brother-in-law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis F:nyert and family of Central roint. Mrs. Tom Campbell of Klm- berlv drove to John Day Satur day on business. A benefit dance was held on Saturday, December 23, for Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Gienger and family, who lost their possess ions in a fire recently. The Monument schools pre sented their Christmas program Thursday evening, December 21. The American Legion and Auxiliary Christmas party was held Friday evening, December 22. The annual Gay Nineties dance will be held January 27, 1968, so ladies and gents get out your gay nineties costumes and be ready to swing. Mrs. Grace Stirrltt went to John Day Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Jennys. She returned home Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Car ol Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wllllnms are the parents of a son, born Saturday morning at Pasco. Frank Williams and Jerry Bover drove to La Grande Fri day evening to take in the ball game. Emery Moore accompa nied them home.
