He has served as president of mo Mid-Columbia group during the past year. Forty-six members attended. On the ensulnc day. October 28, Gene Pierce, president of the Bank of Eastern Oregon, was elected vice president of the Northeast Oregon Group of the Oregon Bankers Association at its meeting In La Grande. Pierce is also president of the Oregon Independent Bankers association. Main speaker at both meet ings was Murray McBrlde of Lund, McCutch eon, McBrlde, Inc., Portland, who spoke on "Your Orgeon Banks.'' Donald H. Finley of Milwaukie, presi dent of the Oregon Bankers As sociation, also spoke at both meetings. Lester E. Thayer, executive manager of the state associa tion, was another speaker at the Mid-Columbia meeting, while George Mimnaugh, state direct or of the U. S. Savings Bond program, spoke at the Northeast : meeting and presented Mrs. U. S. Savings Bonds, Mrs. Dorie Demuth of Magnolia, Texas. Officers of the Mid-Columbia group elected lor tne coming year are: C W. Beckett, me Dalles, president; W. D. Walk er, Moro, vice president; ana Ken Shideler, The Dalles, secretary-treasurer. Besides Pierce, officers electea for the Northeast group are R. L. Tomlinson, Milton-Freewater, president; and S. R. Ralston, Hermiston, secretary-treasurer. Attending the meeting in The Dalles with Siewert were Jim Green, manager of the Arling ton office, Bank of Eastern Ore gon, and V. R. Robinson, assist ant cashier there. Film is Scheduled For PTA Program On Teenage Problem Heppner Elementary PTA will hold its next meeting on Wed nesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the grade school, announces Mrs. Wallace Wolff, president. "Too Tough To Care," a teen age smoking film, will be pre sented as part of the program, according to Mrs. Herman Winr ter, program chairman. Parents and teachers will be invited to take part in discussion of teen age smoking and its effects af ter the program. Members of the membership committee, under the direction of Mrs. Lynn Pearson, have con ducted a membership drive that ended November 1. They nave been contacting parents to dis cuss questions and problems of PTA and to solicit member ship. "THREE PRETTY LITTLE MAIDS ARE WE" might be what this trio could be singing. American flag sa lute was led by Mike Proctor and the 4-H flag salute was led by Steve Acock. Mrs. Partlow of Boardman led us In a few songs and Mrs. Phillips called the meeting to order. Gail Mc carty and Mrs. Wilcoxen gave pins and cards to the leaders who presented them and other special awards to members. There were three special awards. They went to Vickie , Hobbs, Betty Ritzer and Loren Wilson. We closed the meeting with singing more songs and enlov- ing refreshments of doughnuts, apple cider and Kool-aid. Mrs. White, a licensed practical nurse, made her home with the Haydens for a short time while she cared for Mrs. Hayden. She has returned to her home in Scappoose. Mrs. Hay den is now a patient at Good Shepherd hospital in Hermiston, where she was transferred from Mr. anil Mrs. LeRov Pioneer Memorial hosmtal on Friday in their store. October 23.
