Donald Bristow has returned from an enjoyable vacation spent in Southern California. He visited with his cousin. Miss Julie Rietmann, went to Disney land, Knott's Berry Farm. Mar ineland and other points of in teiest. In addition they drove to Tiajuana and Newport -Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hynd spent several days at Granite last week and visited her broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rho Bleakman in John Day. Mrs. Ada Christopherson, who has been staying with the Cliff ord Aldrioh family, is leaving the last of the week for her home at Donald. Kathy Holtz left on Tuesday for the State Fair, where she was to compete on Wednesday in the modeling of her knitte'i sweater. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Schaffor had several houseguesis during the past week-end. Guests from Friday to Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Schaffor from Groom, Texas, who were mak ing their first visit here. The two men are cousins and Claude is a cattle buyer. Other guests were Mrs. Schaffer's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Lieuallen of Pendleton and on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Gilbert of Goldendale, Wash, were present. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Palmateer and family were leaving on Wednesday for Portland to take Mr. Palmateer's niece, Marilyn Stract, to the airport, where she will take a plane for her home in Elk Grove. Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Don Linnell and family attended a horse show in Tye Valley this week-end. Mr. and Mrs. James Barnett accompanied by Cathy Cannon drove to Portland on Saturday to get Ricky and D Ann, who have been visiting relatives there for a week. The young people attended the Monkee Concert at the Memorial Coli seum on Saturday evening. Mrs. Roy W. Lindstrom and Christina and Cindy Ekstrom spent the week-end in Portland. McCabe and girls have returned from a recent vacation spent at East Lake. Mrs. Max Barnum and infant daughter, Kimberlv Joy of Port land, were honored at a small home baby shower on Wednes day evening. Hostesses wore Mrs. Wesley Marlatt and Mrs. Arnold Raymond who held the party at the home of Mrs. Bar num's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Er nest Christopherson. Mrs. Barnum drove to Port and this week-end to meet her husband, who has been at Fort Lewis for summer camp. Thev are visiting his parents at War den, Wash., this week. After a vacation at Diamond Lake and a visit In lone with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bristow and family have return ed to their home at Tillamook. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mac intosh have purchased the lot adjoining the Pete Cannon res idence and have moved their trailer home to that location from Akers Trailer Court. He works for the Union Pacific and they plan to make their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom, Sr., are In Salem this week showing some prize Hereford cattle. Wheat Meeting Slated Tuesday Robert Jensen, lone, president of the Oregon Wheat Growers League, announces that the quarterly mooting of the league's executive committee will be held In the Arlington city hall, Tusedav, September 5, at 9:30 a.m. A full agenda is planned which will Include a thorough discussion on freight rates in the Pacific Northwest. Another topic of Importance will be a review of the bills that passed the last legislation session, es pecially those that affect wheat producers. Discussion will aLso Ik- held on bills that will be Introduced at the special ses sion that will concern our wheat producers. Garth Rouse of the Oregon Farm Bureau will discuss their workman's compensation pro posal. All farmers In the state who have an annual payroll of $1,500 or more will come under the law January 1. 19tkS. Other major topics will be a review of Western Wheat activ ities, a program to develop more market Information for producers, grain standards, feed grain research and others. Mrs. Monahan's brother, Frank Kilkenny, her sister, Mrs. James Doyle and daughter Anne, were here from New York City. A highlight for them was to ride In the Happy Canyon wagon during the big parade, making Kilkenny's homecoming, after an absence of 32 years, a mem orable one. Also here was a brother, John Kilkenny of Herm iston. The Eastern visitors left Monday for Portland from where they were to board the plane for their return flight to New York City.
