Mrs. Kmlle Groshens, chairman for the day, welcomed the court and introduced Mrs. Munkerswro had words of praise for this year's court, stressing the jdcasure that she has experien ced In working with them and complimenting them on always "knowing what they are doing rnd what Is expected of them." She felt the court Is a fine am bassador of good-will between Morrow county and the other counties that have fairs and rodeos In Eastern Oregon. Members of the court Intro duced their mothers and each told of highlights of rodeos and parades In which they had part icipated through the summer. Of enjoyment to all was a poem, "Rodeo Cowboy", read by Miss Shannon Mahoney. Princess Kublanne Kulleton gave an In formative talk on the Importance i.nd kinds of slock branding and asked each girl on the court to describe and explain the history of her family's registered brand. One brand, that of the Bernard Doherty family, has been used through goner a 1 1 o n s and brought by ancestors from Ire land. Mrs. Groshens expressed deep appreciation to those who helped provide t h e attractive decor ations. Much of the urt work was none by Frances Abrams; others who helped were Airs. Lodge Holds Summer Barbecue at Bryants Mrs. Earl Bryant and Mrs. Lincoln Nash were hostesM'S at Mr. Bryant's home on Tuesday evening, August 8, for the an nual Degree of Honor Protective Association barbecue and pot luck supper for the members und their families. Mrs. Barbara Ware, Corvallls. sister of Mrs. Carl King, anil Mrs. Madge Bryant were guests. W. Farra, Mrs. James Cason and Jimmy, Lucille Parrlsh and Mrs. Cleo Robinson. On Friday evening, August 11, Rev. and Mrs. Soward were hosts for the Carnation Club pot luck supper at their home in Ivexington. Plans for the fair booth and convention in October were discussed. New Bride Honored At Shower Party Mrs. Tom Martin, nee Mary Smith, was the honorcc at a bridal shower at the lone Unit ed Church of ChrlKt social rooms last Thursday afternoon. Assisting the new bride at the attractive gift table were Mrs. Robert Rice, Mrs. Lee Padberg and Mrs. Gary Morgan of Port land. The tea table was arranged with a lovely pink and white bouquet flanked by candles and a beautifully decorated bridal sheet cake. Pouring were Mrs. Roy Martin and Mrs. Percy Ce cil. Hostesses were Mrs. Elden Padberg, Mrs. Jack Barak, Mrs. Alfred Nelson Jr., Mrs. Bill Van Winkle, Mrs. Robert Davidson, Mrs. Lloyd Rice, Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mrs. Clell Rca, and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan. Corsages of pink roses were fashioned by Mrs. Omar Riet- mann and presented to the bride and her assistants.
