Roy (Josephine) Krner of Al bany; three brothers, Claude of lleppner, Kred of Greshnm; and Hill of Creseent Lake; five sis ters, Ann Kehmerllng of Sea view, Wash.. Mary Travis of Westport. Wash., Martha Cnrr of Lincoln City, Grace Karl of Pendleton, and Millie KvanM of lleppner; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mm. Krncst Chrlstopherson of lone and paternal grandparent are Mr. and Mrs. Lultue Burnum of Warden, Wash. Mm. Ada ( hrlstoiihcMon of Aurora, and Mm. Mitel Jcppxcn of Canny, are the great grandmothers. Mm. Chrlstopherson ha been In Portland for sometime to lie with her daughter, who had to return to the hospital for med ical treatment. Wendy and Greg Chrtstopherson went down this week end and will loin her lor a vacation. Mm. William Mclenu was ta ken to Pendleton to the Com munity hospital lust Tuesduy and on Monday was transferred to Dclamartcr Nursing Home for treatment. Mr. and Mm. Robert AkcM spent this week end with his parents, Mr. and Mm. Bcrl Ak cm. Their small aon, Jeffrey, re mained for a visit with his grandparents. Stephen Llndstrom arrived In Pendleton on Monday by plane from IxK'kbourne Air Force Banc, Ohio, where he has been for six weeks participating In the U. S. Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corp field training en campment. One of hl.i most In teresting experiences wus a trip to the NASA Research Cen ter at Langley A.K.B., where they saw Astronauts Scott and McUlvItt working on simulated dix'klngs for a moon shot with Apollo. Stephen will enroll In September us a senior at Pac ific Lutheran UnlveMlty and will continue ROTC training at the University of Puget Sound. Oscar Lundell was able to return home from Pioneer Memorial hospital on Saturday after spending several days there for treatment. Mr. and Mm. John Garvcy and family of San Jose. Calif., arrived in lone on Monday for a visit with old friends. They came to Pendleton a week ago for the funeral services of Mrs. Garvey's brother, Denward L. Bergevln. Guests of Mm. Mary Holtz and family last Thursday even ing were her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. l.ewls Tomsha and family of Valley, Wash. They were on a vacation and It was their first trip to Eastern Oregon. Bill Scare and his fiancee, Nancy Cane arrived In lone on Saturday for a visit with the Garland Swanson family. Sears worked for the Swansons In har vest before going East to school a few years ago. He was return ing from Roanoke, Va., having graduated from a General Elec tric engineering schoo 1 there. Miss Cane will teach In Port land this coming year. Kimmle Martin was honored on her sixth birthday with a party at the home of her grand mother, Mrs. E. J. Akers. Five little guests came to play games and enjoy the refresh ments. They included Arlene Cannon, Laura Marlck, Yvonne White, Sherry Randolph, Kim mle Pettyjohn. Guests of the F. T. Martin's this week-end were all three of their children, Melvin Martin of Othello. Wash.; Ralph Martin of Oregon City, and Mrs. Al Bra zell, who has been here helping MICHAEL D. Benge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terrel Benge of lone, has been working with the Montagnards for several years. He is due home on leave in September. Cpl. Smith Completes Training at Ft. Sill Corporal Kenny Smith Is home on 30 day leave from the U. S. Army between training at Ft. Sill, Okla., and service in Viet nam. He is visiting his mother, Mrs. Elolse Smith, and otheT relatives an dfriends in Hepp- ner. Cpl. Smith flew to Portland from Ft Sill by way of Dallas, lexas, and continued by bus to Arlington where he was met July 1 8 by his mother and aunt, mm. uienn smitn. On August 17 he Is scheduled to fly to Vietnam from Oakland as a replacement canonneer, Joining a 175 mm howitzer crew. He mentioned that he found (he names of Mike Smith of Hpppner, and some boys from Pilot Rock and Condon at a cen tral registry of soldiera at Ft Sill, but Mike had been ship ped out and he didn't get to see the others during his stay there. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Shockley and family of Seattle were re newing old acquaintances here and In Heppner over the week end. Kathy and Becky were guests at the A. A. Stefanl home. Home From Overseas Lance Corporal Frank Robin son returned last Saturday from an overseas assignment in Viet nam and Okinawa, and will be on leave at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Robinson In Lexington until August 9. He will then report to Whidbey Island Base at Oak Harbor. Wn., for further training.
