The bride Is the dau Khter of Mr. and Mrs. Koy Dav is, and parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Dick Vinton, all of Portland. The groom had often visited here at the Groshen home and had worked on ranches here during the summers. He Is pres ently enrolled at Portland State College, malorlng In secondary cducaton. Ilml her of the groom, Tom Pointer, stood as best man and Jerry Anderson of North Bend, Hill Doherty of Kugenc and James Steagall of Portland as sisted as ushers. Mark and Charles Pointer, brothers of the groom, wore al tar bovs and Stan Conlon, the groom's uncle, was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. George Ackerman of Hood Klver. Mr. and Mrs. Kaymond Down ing, aunt and uncle of the bride, hosted a reception honoring the couple in their home lollowng the ceremony. Mrs. Jane Franz catered the event and the cake was served by Mrs. Kaymond Downing of Hood Klver and Mrs. Klchaid Farra of Lake Oswego, both aunts of the bride. Coffee wns poured by Mrs. Maude Pointer of Corvallls, grandmoth er of Hie groom, and Mrs. Har riet Batty of Klamath Falls, aunt of the groom. Mrs. Judy Downing, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Virginia Conlon, aunt of the groom, served punch. Passing rice and scrolls were Alisa and Jeff Moore. Mrs. Jerry Anderson of North Bend was In charge of the gifts. The new Mrs. Pointer chose a yellow dress and green print coat ensemble with yellow ac cessories for her going away outfit. Following a honeymoon trip to the coast, the couple is now at home in Salem whore the groom is employed as a sales man for Proctor and Gamble Co, Mary Smith is Bride Of Thomas G. Martin Miss Mary Smith, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Everett J. Smith of Chicago, III., became the bride of Thomas G. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Koy Martin of Lex ington, on Saturday evening, June 21, In Carson City. Nov. For her marriage the bride was attired In a street length dress of white silk shantung, with a flowered headdress and short veil. She carried a bridal louquet of rosebuds. Following the ceremony, the couple left for a honeymoon trip to Lake Tahoo. The bride attended Mt. Asslsl Academv In U-mont, 111., and the De Paul University in Chic ago, where she majored In phil osophy. She has spent some time travbeling In Europe. The groom has Just completed a military tour of duty in Eur ope. Following his graduation from the lone High school, he attended Columbia Basin Col lege and Oregon State Univer sity previous to going Into the army service. The newly weds are now mak ing their home on the Martin ranch near Lexington. Elective officers installed were Mrs. Om.ir ltletmann, associate matron; Omar Klotmann, asso ciate patron; Mrs. Koy W. Llnd strom, secretary Koy W. Llnd strom, treasurer; Mrs. James Harnett conduct reus and Mrs. Kenneth Srnousc, associate cond uctress. Special guests present were Mrs. Dick Wilkinson of Heppner, who was Installed Grand Kuth of the (irand Chapter of Oregon, Order of the F;astern Star, at in stallation ceremonies at the Memorial Coliseum on June 21; and Mrs. Iill Cox, newly install ed worthy matron of Kuth Chap ter No. 32 at Heppner. Mrs. Ekstrom had the pleasure of Introducing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ball, Sr. and her four sisters, Mrs. Rudy Berg strom, Mrs Gene Hall and Mrs. La Verne Van Marter of Heppner; and Mrs. Roger Stelger of Port land. A lovely bouquet of blue and lavender delphinium and larks pur, flanked by lavender can dles, decorated the tea table. Mrs. Hall presided at the silver service, Mrs. Stelger served the decorated cake, and Mrs. Keith Rea poured punch, Mrs. Walter Jacobs assisted about the rooms. Cindy and Jan Ekstrom were in charge of the guest book. Birthday Feted Mrs. Norah Rasmum was hon ored In Walla Walla, Wash., on the weekend of June 24 and 25 when relatives complimented her on her birthday. She was guest of her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Dysart, and also visited her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Cecil, and Mrs. Mabel Cecil, who is Mrs. Rasmus' sister-in-law and mother of Mrs. Dysart and Mr. Cecil. Mrs. Dysart has been a b(x)kkeeper for the Van Pet ten Lumber Co. there for many years. Mrs. Rasmus said that she had a very enjoyable time on the weekend. The Rev. and Mrs. Al Boschee plan to leave Monday, July 10, on a vacation trip of some ten days. They expect to go to Yel lowstone Park, taking a house trailer, and will continue on to Billings, Mont., to visit friends. They plan to be back in Hepp ner by July 20.
