The selection, made by secret I allot by the Junior class, wan announced at intermission during ire dam, Krln Dick and Kay Odggelt were named prin cesses fur the court, escorted bv plnce Dave CooHr and Jeff Turner. A court dance followed the coronation. The "mod" atmosphere of an "Olde English Pub" wa carried cut for the prom, and music fur the dunce wa provided by 'The C anterbury Tale" from Seattle, Wn Guest entered by a long walk around the back of the stage which wa decorated like hull. The blackness of the hall open ed through a curtain door made of narrow bamboo like atrip. As In the English pub, the prom had a dark, but friendly, atmos phere, A false celling spraying out from a Go Co cage In the center of the room, made the atmosphere even closer. Tables were set up In the back of the room, covered with checked cloths and centered with candles In assortment of bottle and baskets ol snacks. An authentic looklm, bar In a pub wa ex tended across the back of the room, decorated with mirrored shelve, empty kegs and bottle carrying out the desired effect. Both Klrlx, Patty Luclanl and Donna Hradley, were seventh giaders. Eighth graders who nerved wore Janet McCurdy, Alene lioyajlan. LnVernc Van Marhr and Ronnie Shman. The girls wore mini skirts and long sleeved white blouses with wide ties; boys wore white shirts and red vests. Cominltiee chairmen were Sheila Luclanl, general chair Man; Merrl Lee Jacobs, decor at Ions; Knthy Matthews, band; Nancy Doherty, court, and Vickie hublnson, refreshments. C'hapciones for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Munkers, Mr. and Mrs. George Luclanl, Mr. and Mr. George Steagall, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Starks, Mr and Mrs. Dennis Do herty and Mr. and Mrs. Gall McCarly. Following Kpeclal Introduc tion, presentation of a past worth advisor's pin was made to I-lniia Clark, and a gavel wa presented to the new worthy ad visor fiom the board member and her parents. At the May 1 Assembly meeting, a silver dish wa ptoented Mrs. Hughes, In appreciation of her work as past mother advisor. At the Installat ion she presented a pin to the new mother advisor, Mrs. Harnett. During the social hour, cake wa served by Fran Barnett, punch was nerved by Ginger Springer and coffee by (Jen Springer. On the kitchen com mittee wrre Mrs. Don Clark of I .a Grande, Mr. Jim linger and Mrs. Gene Orwick. Seniors Are Feted Amid Silver Fantasy At Annual Banquet Mcn.lur of the class of '67 of lleppner high nchool were guests id honor at the annual Junior- Senior banquet, held Wednes day evening, May 3, In the Hi ppner Mk lodge. A the guest arrived, they were escorted to their place at the four full length table by the sophomore boy, who nerved the banquet. The boy wore suit Jiuket and the girls who serv ed the main course, wore white pique (IreKses, some trimmed In silver. Cloud of silver and silver fairy cast lea floating In angel hair mist created a "Sliver Fan tasy" theme for the evening Sliver castles In cloud of angel hair adorned the tables, with a larger castle situated on the Makerji' platform. Favor of small wand with a sliver star at the end were at the Individ ual places on the tables, and the word of the theme were written out on the wall In silver paper trimmed with star. The atmosphere of fantasy was cre ated by the cloud and stars which seemed to be suspended In mid air from the ceiling. Clouds, made of tumbleweeds, were sprayed with silver, then covered with angel hair. Verlna French, a senior, gave the Invocation before the tnca!. Junior class mothers prepared the banquet meal of roast beef, whipped potatoes and gravy, string beans, tomato appetizer, loused green salads, hot rolls and Ice cream with strawberries Serving was done by the soph omore girls and boys. David Hull of the Junior eluss presided over the banquet pro gram as master of ceremonies. John Rawlins presented a hum orous alter dinner speech. As is customary, the Junior class pres ident, Marsha Lovgren, gave a short speech of welcome and ap preciation, with the senior class iiiesldent, Jan Hager, respond ing In behalf of the guests. Piinclpal Dick Carpenter spoke briefly with words of apprec iation. Musical entertainment was provided by guest from lone High school. Miss Rita Kerr and Bonnie Hynd, accompanied on the piano by Denlece Matthews, sang two selections, "More" and "The Sweetheart Tree." Engagement Told Of Tamara Smith Scouts of Heppner Troop 661 attended a Camporee for the Oregon Trail District at Cold Sprlnrs Reservoir near Hermis ton Friday, Saturday and Sun day, May 5. 6 and 7. Dwaync Steers and Barney Marshall were tapped out for Order of the Arrow; Bilan Hughes, also elec ted to Order of the Arrow, was unable to attend the camporee.
