They visited Mrs. F.u bank's niece, Mrs. Chet Hcrt here, and nor new baby son, Shawn Clifford, who was born on March 14, weighing 6 lbs. Thev also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Brenner. A large group of young peo ple enjoyed a party at Valbv Lutheran Church on Sunday af ternoon. Twelve from the United Church of Chlrst attended. The film, "Para bio" was shown and dancing and refreshments were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders nnd family of Portland were guests of her alster, Mr. and Mrs. John F.ubanks this week end. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Dale Rodriguez came over from Hermiston und took homo their twin hoys, who had been stay ing with their grandparents, for A few days. Principal Outlines Plan Harold Bcggs, principal of the lone schools, presented an Infor mative talk at tho April PTA meeting regarding the proposed chunge to a six-six school in lone next year. This plan has been approved by the local ad visory board, the county school hoard, and recently by tho State Department of Education. Ac cording to the now schedule seventh and eighth grades will operate on the same class time schedule us tho high school classes. Their classes will be taught by teachers from the high school In their particular fields, which Is being done to some extent at present. It is planned to keep lunch times und social activities as separ ate operations. The library will be centralized with a librarian, a record system for all the upp er six grades will be kept on one Mrmanent record card. . Other numbers on tho pro gram Included a medley of songs played on the flute by Karen Nelson accompanied on the pluno by Torrio O'Connor. Mrs. Ernest Chrlstopherson, president, appointed Louis Carl son, Harold Beggs, and Rebecca Case to the scholarship commit tee. She also announced that the lone PTA was cooperating In the auction at Heppner on May 13, with proceeds to be us ed for a new agricultural hull nt the Oregon Museum of Sci ence and Industry In Portland. James Marvin will serve on the committee to gather contribu tions for the sale. The state PTA convention Will be held In Pendleton on April 24, 25, 26 and 27. Anyone in Pendleton on any of those days Is urged to attend some of the sessions. Mrs. Christophcrson will attend on Wednesday. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Ling this week were her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Wilson of Bright wood. - Kathy Shockley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Shockley of Seattle, has been chosen for of seven pep rally girls for Shoreline High school. The Shocklcys lived here a few years ago, when Mr. Shockley was the principal of the schools. Announcement was made that Pomona Grange would meet at Rhea Creek Grange April 29, at 10:30 a.m. The secretary was Instructed to write a letter to the State Board of Health that the grange would support Columbia Gran ge's effort to establish a dia betic clinic in the area.
