Mr. and Mrs. Bothum are now at home In Pendleton, where he is associated with Johns Smith and Benmer feed lot oerntlons. Mrs. Bothum Is a nurse at Pen dleton Community hospital. After her graduation from Heppner Hlch school, the bride attended two years at Oregon State University and was enrol led In a Portland business col lege. An accomplished horsewom an, she was chosen Miss Rodeo of Oregon In 19fil and represent ed the estate at national Miss Rodeo America finals at Las Vegas, Nev. She has won many rodeo trophies, was a princess in the Morrow county rodeo court, was a Pendleton' Round up princess, and was named Miss Northwest Kodeo in 1!)60. See NlNlK us Tor enveloe of I he Curette Times. al MYF Youth Present Christmas Program At Women's Meeting Mike Alstip was narrator for a radio skit presented by the MYK for the Ix-cember meeting of the W.SCS of the Heppner Methodist Church. Sara Miller, Frank I-ovgren, Deborah Young and Al Drake played the parts of the Bethlehem Innkeeper and his family who felt the spirit ual Impact of the birth of Jesus. Mrs. Melvln Dixon led the group In prayer following the skit, and Sara Miller, accompa nied by Mrs. Sam Miller, sang a Christmas solo. The group participated In singing familiar enrols, Mrs. Jay Wheelhouse presented a Christmas medita tion, concluding the candlelight program. Mrs. Bob Henry presided at the buslneiis meeting. Besides regular reports, members were Invited to i-ontrlbute wrapped bars of soap for Church World Service. A box will be provided at the church for receiving the soap donations. Mrs. James llilderbrand and Mrs. Jack Krleg'-r were hostess es for Oil- sociul hour. The next meeting Is Janunry 5, In the church purlors. Kindergarten Plans Christmas Parties Heppner Civic league mem bers ent their meeting of No vember 21, planning for the coming Christmas party which will be held Thursday, Decern her 22, at the kindergarten room. Christmas party for the morn ing class will be held at 9:45 a.m. and the afternoon class will have II party at 1:30 p.m. All parents, pro-school brothers and sisters, and grandparents are invited to these parties. Delightful entertainment will be provided by. the children, ac cording to Mrs .Klmcr Schmidt, Instructor. Refreshments are being plan ned by the mothers, a gift ex change and, hopefully, a visit from Santa will conclude the program. Officers for Altar Society Nominated New officers wore chosen for the coming year by St. Patrick's Altar Society at its monthly meeting December 0 at the par ish hall. Those taking office at the first of the year will be Mrs. Harold Curnutt, president; Mrs. Phil Doherty, vice presi dent; Mrs. Hill Kenny, secretary, and Mrs. John Mollahan, treas urer. Arrangements are being plan ned by the society to stKinsor a teenage dande on Friday night, December 30. Members also helped with the annual church Christmas party on Sunday afternoon. An all church potluck dinner In the af ternoon was followed by movies and a visit from Santa for the children. Mrs. Herman Stroober served as chairman for the hostess committee for the meeting. Portland Girl to Wed Son of Mrs. Groshens Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Horn, KM HO Southwest 63rd Drive, Portland, are announcing the approaching marriage of their daughter, Darlene Rae, to flrant S. Carter, the son of Mrs. frmlle Groshens of Heppner. The ceremony Is planned for one o'clock on Saturday after noon. December 17, at Calvary Prcsr ytorian church In Portland. A reception will follow the ceremony. Members and their children gathered for a baked ham pot luck dinner and Christmas car ol singing. Trie room was dec orated with a beautiful Christ mas tree, with red candles and greenery on the tables. Children received candy canes and pop corn balls. Special guests for the Christ mas meeting were the Rev. and Mrs. Melvln Dixon. The party was followed by a business meeting for members at which plans were made fori Christmas baskets to be given ; to needy families. ! Mrs. Hamlin Visits Friends in Valley Mrs. Frank Hamlin was out of town from Tuesday until Sunday of last week, on her an nual Christmas trip to renew acquaintances in Portland and Gresham. Each year in the month of December for the ltith year since she moved away from the Portland area, she has re turned to loin with her friends of two different birthday clubs in celebrating December birth days. This year she attended a luncheon with one club and a breakfast with the other. She says that the members have been the same all 16 years In both clubs, except for one person. Every prudent driver carries' a spare tire, Jack and lug wrench for emergencies. For winter driving emergencies, the Traffic Safety Division of the Oregon Department of Motor Ve hicles reminds drivers to carry the following emergency equip ment in the trunk: a tow chain, sand, shovel, tire chains and booster cables.
