Com mittee in charge was Mrs. Wal ter Hayes, Mrs. Arthur Allen and Mrs. Joe Tatone. Greenfield Grange will cele brate it -t 50th anniversary in April, litis. The Riverside Pirates will have a basketball game with the lone Cardinals here Decem ber 16. At 5:45 p.m. the same night there will be a girls vol leyball game with lone. The Pirates will travel to Echo for a game December 17. and the girls will go to lone for a game December 19. The annual Christmas tree and program will be presented by the Boardman Grade school iii the school gymnasium Do comber 22. at 8 p.m. Friends are invited to attend. The National Honor Society of Riverside High school is col lecting toys and current mag azines for the mentally retard ed at the state hospital in Pen dleton for Christmas. Mothers of the Riverside Pir ates football team entertained 26 bovs at a dinner Sunday af ternoon at the new Greenfield Granee Hall. The affair was a Irvin Mann, state representa tive elect, and Mrs. Mann paid a visit to the City Hall last Fri day afternoon, visited with lo cal people, and took a tour of the new town, and the Port Commission Industrial site. Oth ers present included J. B. Mai com. Heppner and Oscar Peter- , son. lone, port commissioners. Judge Paul Jones and Frank Turner of Heppner. Mrs. Dewy West. Mrs. Walter Hayes, Mrs. Ralph Skoubo and Mrs. Vernon Russell served refreshments. ! Mrs. George Neeley was hon- jored with a pink and blue shower last week at the Green field Grange hall. In games played prizes were won by Mrs. Bill Bates, Mrs. Chub Warren and Mrs. Ronald Black surprise for Coach Dante Dal- Mrs. Neeley was assisted in Grange to Sponsor Auction Greenfield Grange will spon sor a public auction Friday. De cember 17, starting at 10 a.m. at the new hall in Boardman. The sale will be handled on a 15T commission and anything brought will be auctioned off. All articles must be at the Grange hall bv 9 a.m. The hall will te open for storing articles December 15 and 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. Guided inspection tours from the grange hall to the old town of Boardman to inspect build ings, beams, garage doors, hoists, gas pumps, gasoline stor age tanks portable generator, portable water pump and other large items from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on the day of the sale. Everything in old Boardman is to be closed out Joe Yates of Walla Walla. Wash, will be the auctioneer, and Mrs. Nina Yates will be clerk. Hot lunch will be avail able at noon. There will be free coffee. toso. who knew nothing of the plans. Other special guests were Ron Daniels, Riverside princi pal, and James Harper, base ball coach. Assisting were Mrs. Don Downey, Mrs. Leon ard Bedord, Mrs. Larry Phillips, Mrs. Ernest Jorgenson and Mrs. James McRae, the latter two from Irrigon. Following the dinner six rolls of film of the boys' games this fall were shown. Mrs. Phillips took the pictures at each game. Thev were shown by Bobby McRae and Chet Phillips. New member of the council is Era mett McKenzie, who will take oath of office at the January 3 meeting. Zearl Gillespie states he will donate a large fir tree to the city to be planted on the lawn at the city hall. It will be dec orated for Christmas. Street lights in old Boardman will te turned off December 31, except those near the school. Mrs. Russell Miller was elect ed president of the Ladies Aid Society of Community church at its meeting last week at the home of Mrs. Seth Russell. Mrs. Ralph Earwood was elected vice-president; Mrs. Leo Root, secretary; and Mrs. Russell, treasurer.
