The first card party of the season will be held at the hall f.ovember IS at S p.m. Mrs. Car penter and Mrs. Bernard Dono an will be hostesses. A donation was given to the Eastern Oregon State hospital at Pendleton instead of sending gifts for Ch-is-tmas. The club voted to assist with t:-.e city public auction, if held, in the way cf M-rving food. Mar dee Childers. who was Morrow C ounty Fair and Rodeo princess from Boardman this year, was present and reported on her summer's activities. . Decision was made to buy hats and jackets for the volun teer firemen In town as part cf the club's community im provement program. The city public auction was discussed, hut no decision was made. Final plans were made for the rummage sale set for November 16-17 at the grange hall at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone having t-ummage to tfonate was to rring it to the hall Tuesday. Mrs. Vernon Kussell was aD pointed to plan a field trip for me scnool children. Mrs. Bob Miller of Gresham is visiting this week at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Rus sell Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kress spent the week-end at the home of their son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Kress in La Grande. Monday visitors at the Kress home were their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Del Robertson and son Kevin of Walla Walla, Wash, and Mrs. Franklin Ball of Herm iston. Jerry and Wayne Downey spent the holiday weekend in Estacada visiting at the home of their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Califf. To speed up separation and delivery of these smaller par cels falling within this category, Postmaster General Lawrence V. O'Brien directed that all parcels be clearly marked upon accept ance at the post office with the letters SAM (surface airlift malh. This will eliminate the task of reweighing and measuring the parcels at the San Francis co Concentration Center prior to dispatch to Viet Nam or other overseas military post offices. Postmaster Drlscoll also re minded mailers that Christmas parcels weighing 5 pounds and under, though they are given airlift priority from San Fran cisco to Viet Nam on a space available basis, should be mail ed no later than December 1. Airmail, he said, should be sent no later than December 10. The deadline for Christmas packages weighing more than 5 pounds going to Viet Nam and other overseas military post of fices means was November 10. SEAMAN DOUG DUBUQUE Dubuque is Named Outstanding Recruit; To Study Engineering Seaman apprentice Doug Du buque Is home on leave visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tous sent Dubuque, after finishing boot camp at the U. S. Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. He arrived Tuesday, No vember 8. Seaman Dubuque was second in command of his company during boot camp and was named outstanding recruit at graduation for his qualities of "initiative, perseverance and de votion to duty." He will leave November 25 for Great Lakes, 111., where he will be in Basic Engineering School for three months. He was graduated from Heppner High school with the class of 1964.
