He specializes In pas (orul counseling and sulcldo pre vention, He told of four very Interesting projects In which he Is Involved; a suicide preven tion center; and Interdenomina tional coffee house; a marriage counseling service; and a tit-vori-o rehabilitation center. Mrs. Wesley ;. Nlehoson, con ference moderator of the state United Church of Christ, was another sneaker on the program. Mrs. Baker Is scribe of the Mid Columbia Association and Rev. Report oi Interest lone Topic Club met at the homo of Mrs. Milton Morgan on Krldny afternoon. Mrs. Norman Nelson made the report on the "United Nations Then and Now". At the organization of the United Nations there were 51 memlw-r nations, she point ed out, and now there are 122 nations belonging. Sho discus sed the structure and aecoirp llshments of the organization and also told of the parent or ganizations within the structure of the United Nations contained In the original charter. Mrs. Bert Mason, Sr., of Port land visited her granddaughter, Mrs. Roy A. Lindstrom and fam ily this week. They returned home with Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Lindstrom visited her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Dorr Mason until Sunday, when Mr. Linds trom drove down for them. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Drake left on Wednesday for Eugene, where they went to stay with their two grandsons, while the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Turn er were on vacation. They were called home, however, by the sudden death of Mr. Drake's brother, Ruy Drake In lleppner. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Crawford drove to Yakima on Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Ilervol Pet tyjohn and family. Mrs. Craw, ford remained to visit for a week with her daughter nnd Mr. Crawford returned home on Monday. M. and Mrs. Roy W. Walter Roberts has been con fined to Pendleton Community hospital for about a week with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan were visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Peck and family In Port land over the week-end. Mrs. Berl Akers was the re cipient at a "Grandma Shower" at the home of Mrs. Lewis Hal vorsen last Wednesday after noon. Guests brought gifts for the two new Akers grandchild ren; Jeffrey, son of Mr. nnd Mrs. Robert Akers of Portland, and Ramonn, daughter of Mr. nnd Mrs. Berl Akers, Pine Ridge, S. I). Mrs. Wallace Mat tews, sister of Mrs. Akers. assisted with the gifts. A delicious sal ad, crackers, and coffee were served the ladles present by Mrs. Halvorsen, Mrs. Ray Helm blgner, Mrs. Raymond Lundell, and Mrs. Hershnl Townsend. Mr. and Mrs. K. M. Baker were hosts for a dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Palmer and family, nnd Mr. nnd Mrs. I.ew Is Halvorsen. Mr. nnd Mrs. Ron ald Baker and two older dau ghters stopped In Sunday even ing on their way home to Herm Iston from the P. I. In Portland. They took their two younger daughters home, who had been visiting with their grandparents. Greenfield Sets Hall Dedication By MART LEE MARLOW BOARDMAN Greenfield Grange held the first meeting In the new hall Saturday night, starting with potluck supper at 6:30. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black were hosts, with Mrs. Bernard Donovan assisting. Dedication of tho new hall, which la prac tlcally finished, has been set for December 3. Greenfield will be hosts for the Pomona Grange session here October 20, starting at 10:30 a.m. The Boardman TUllcum Club made plans for the annual Hal lowe'en party for pre-schoolers and grades 1-4 at their meet ing Tuesday of last week at the home of Mrs. Bernard Don ovan. The party will be held October 28 at the school. Mrs. Carroll Donovan will furnish the punch, and the other mem bers are to bring cookies for refreshments. Mrs. Ronald Black, Mrs. Dew ey West and Mrs. Donovan re ported on the district 7 board meeting held recently In Pen dleton. Plans were made to hold a "Importance of Family Life In Our Changing World" the hasls for the program on Internation al relations. Mrs. Norman Nel son briefly discussed the orga nization and alms of the Unit ed Nations, since this month the organization will celebrate its 21st year of world service. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crum show ed beautiful slides of their trip to the Holy Lund. Miss Rita Kerr nnd Bonnie Hynd entertained the group with a soft shoe dance and song "Side by Side", which they did in costume. They also sang a parody of the song "Let the Rest of the World Go By". Fourth and sixth grade moth ers served cider and doughnuts at the close of the meeting. During the business meeting it was announced that the VI bra Bath is completely paid for. $1T)0 was given to the fund for a new time clock for basketball. The budget lor $100 was ap proved. See hafer and voted to disband for this year due to the fact no one could be found to take any of the offices. What money the unit has on hand will be given to the 4-H clubs to buy cither dishes or silverware for the new building that Is being built. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rash and daughter Diane, and Mr. and Mrs. Phil LaCombe went to Valleyford, Wash. Sunday to visit at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Herman R. Burg, former residents here. They returned home Monday. Mrs. Glen Carpenter visited two days last week In Umatil la at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Carpenter. Visitors of Mrs. Carpenter Thursday until Saturday were Mrs. Ruby Veach and Mrs. Peggy Craft of Wich ita, Kans., who were here for the death of their brother, Or ville Carpenter of Umatilla. The JV team of Riverside High school defeated the Helix six man football team last Thursday at Helix 45-34. Com ing from behind to win, this was the team's first experience in a six man game.
