After crossing the Pyrenees Mountain, they tried to drive im much us possible In the Inland country seeing the les modern ized parts of Spain. Wo Perform at Labor Day Show Ray Helmblgner and mem ber of his ski group arc busily putting the finishing touches on the Labor Day Ski Show plan ned for Monday, September 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the McNary Yacht Club. Many outstanding ski event will be performed for member and friend and the public on thl date. A breakfast will be served between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m at the club on Sunday and Monday. Rev. and Mrs. Walter B. Crow ell enloyed a vacation spent In the Willamette Valley, at Springfield, and at Portland, where they were guests of his brother-In-iaw and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Kardatzke. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hams took their little two-month-old daughter, Leslie Kay, to Walla Walla on Thursday for medical treatment. Unable to diagnose her lllnesa there, they went by plane to .Seattle on Friday. She Is now at the University of Washington Medical School, where she has undergone treat ment and tests. Doctors are still unable to determine her Illness, but she la slightly Im proved. Gordon White underwent ma jor surgery at St. Vincent's hos pital in Portland on Wednesday. His son Tom, Hew down on Sunday to visit with him. Relatives here have had word that Miss Alice Mchoson, who was recently hospitalized with pneumonia, la better and has returned to work. Her mother, Mrs. Edith Nichoson of lone, who has been with her, has gone to Los Angeles to visit her sister, Mrs. James Cossmann. Evelyn Marlck ha gone to work at the Cecil Store. Mr. and Mrs. Merv Thomas, who have been operating the store for two years are moving back to tne Seattle area, where he will be employed. Mr. and Mrs. Robert RIetmann and family drove to Camp Ad ams on Saturday to pick up their son, John. They had lunch with the campers and many of their parents before leaving for Portland, where they visited the zoo before coming home. Monday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Berl Akers were his cous in and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Woodburn and Steve from Burbank, Calif. They had not met for many years. Kerry Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson, suffered a bad break in hi leg at the Tuesday evening practice of the football team. He was taKen to Heppner for treatment and hospitalization. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Touna and family were at Seaside for a beach vacation from August 13 until August 23. According to Harlan the weather was very 1 pleasant during their stay. Ayres Parents of Son Mr. and Mrs. Rodnev Ayres of Pasco are the parents of son. Randy Leonard, born Aug ust 29, a 4:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lourdes hospital In Pas co, weighing 6 lb, 11 oz. The baby grandparent are Rev. and Mrs. Austin McCee of Cave Junction and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ayres of Heppner. Great grand parents are Mr. Clayton Ayres ner, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Pet tyjohn of Arlington, and E. R. Foiles of Kansas. Infant Son Dies Bruce Raymond Litchfield, in fant son of Captain and Mr. Ralph Litchfield, died August 15 In Anchorage, Alaska. He was born August 13 and was the Lichfields' only child. Mrs. Litchfield Is the former Janet Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright of Heppner. Capt. Litchfield has been sta tioned at Elmendorff Air Base near Anchorage. Godpar ents for Lorl Ann were Miss Judy Mason and Joe Halvor&en and godparent for baby Mark Patrick were Miss Mason and Mark Halvorsen. The Halvorscn boy are uncles of the children. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Slender of Salem are visiting with the Lewis Halvorsen .....y and the Leo Crabtrees this week. Ttuy came to Heppner with the Salem Riding Club and Dartlrinated in the drill put on by the club at the Saturday and Sunday Rodeo Miows. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brlstow and family of Portland were guests f ins parenis, Mr. and Mrs. K. Mrtstow on rrlday. They then went on to Heppner to visit other relative. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Crawford and family of Portland arrived this week end for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Ida Coleman and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Garland Swan aon and Jim left on Monday morning to.- Wallowa Lake. They were to Jem his brother and sis-ter-ln law, Mr. ml Mrs. Norman Swanson and family of Portland there for n week's vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beggs and family moved on Monday from the home of Mrs. Jessie Griffin on Second Street to the former Joe Gaarslnnd house on Third Street. A guest at the Ray Helmblg ner home is Jeanette Osibov of Eugene, liei family plans to come the last of the week. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Matthews this week were Mr. Matthew's nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Matthews and son, Stephen, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and his brother, Joe Matthews of Rose burg. Service Held for Vaster Nelson Graveside services for Vester Nelson, &, of Omak, Wash, were held at High View Cemetery on rriuay wnn Kev. Walter B, Irowell ofliclating. Mr. Nelson died of a sudden heart attack at Seattle, Wash., where he had ceen working as a finishing car penter at the Kirkland schools. Coming here for the services were his wife. Delores Croweil Nelson and two daughters Diane and Vivian or omak; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Croweil and family of Riverside, Wash., Max Emery of Seattle, Glen Emery of Omak, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lathrop and family of Ephrata, Wash.,and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Stevens and family of Milwaukle, Ore. The relatives spent Thursday night here with Mrs. Nelson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Croweil. Mr. and Mrs. Victor RIetmann, Mr. and Mrs. BUI RIetmann and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roberts spent Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert RIetmann and family.
