They went through Glacier National Park f Calgary and then to Hnnff, where they stayed at the Hot Springs. They also spent some time at liadluin Hot Springs. At Calgary they visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ma ley, who recently moved there from Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hiilvor sen of Medford are guests of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. l-wls Halvorxcn, and will stay to attend the Shrine foothnll game on Satur day evening In Pendleton, when the lone High school will be represented by Mark Hnlvorsen on the Kast team. Mrs. Ida Coleman returned home on Monday from a Curnp Klre Camp near Dallas, where she has been cooking this sum mer. She wns accompanied home from Portland by her three granddaughters, Linda and Marianne Williams nnd Putty Sue Crawford. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Klncatd and family went to Portland for the pro football game on Sat urday and are spending sever al days uwav on vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Chllders and family departed on Sunday for a vacation at the coast. Returning on Monday were Mr. nnd Mrs. Klchnrd Sherer and family and Puul Pettyjohn. Jr, nnd Klmmv and Kelly. They visited the Wayne Pierce family In Redmond and then went to Lava Lake near Bend for a few duvs. A rattlesnake with five but tons was killed on the Lewis Halvorxcn ranch on Monday. Hccentlv nn even larger rattler was killed at the Phlll Kmert ranch in the yard. Mrs. Ed Pat ton found a rattler In their yard and It struck at one of the youngsters, then crawled under a play house. Mr. Patton final ly moved the building and kill ed the snake. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Stefnnl and family moved Into the home formerly occupied by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Stef unl on Main Street. Ills parents moved into the home Just va rated bv the A. A. Stefunl fam ily on Second Street. Mr. and Mrs. Kldon Tucker nnd family spent Sunday In Hermlston attending the Tuck er family reunion. His grand mother, Mrs. Queener, who lives In a rest home at Hermlston. was able to attend and most of her children were present. Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay and Mr. and Mrs. Karl McCabe left last Thursday for Tekoa, Wash., where they will visit Mrs. Lindsay's brother and sis ter In-law, Mr. and Mrs. John liucon. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Martin and family have returned to lone for the coming school year. Mr. Martin attended summer school at Black Hills State Teachers College at Spearflsh, D. Mrs. Martin spent most of the summer In Iowa with rela tives. She also attended a work shop for teachers. They came through Glacier National Park on their trip back to lone. New Bride is Honored Mrs, Virgil Davis, nee Karen Hums, was the honorec at a bridal shower on Thursday af- moon at the lone United Church of Christ social rooms. Her sister-In-law, Mrs. Wayne Hams and Mrs. Ijpo Hams, as sisted with the gifts. Mrs. Wes Marlatt, aunt of the bride, ar ranged the ribbons In a nose gay and Cheryl Hams and Teen a Stefnnl helped about the rooms. The tea table was ren tered with a summer bouquet of white with pink and red ros es nnd was flanked by pink randies. A pink and white bri dal cake was served and the bride's mother, Mrs. Vester Hams, tHiured coffee and her grandmother, Mrs. James Hams, served the punch. Kvln had been very 111 and was in a coma for 72 hours. She Is now on the road to recovery and although still hospitalized Is making rapid progress. John Eubanks and his dau ghter Sandra, spent the week end at Prlnevllle participating In the Crooked River Round-Up. In the featured derby race they won third and fourth place rib bons. Mrs. Dale Ray and Mrs. John Armlngton and daughters left on Thursday for Lyle, Wash., where Mrs. Ray and her grand daughters will spend the rest of the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Breshears and family. Mrs. Armlngton went on to het home in Los Angeles. Pvt Charles (Bill) Monagle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Monagle, left Heppner August 2 for his new assignment In the U.S. Army. He had been on leave following basic training at Kurt Ord. Pvt. Monagle will be work ing In the U- S. Army Natick Laboratories in dairy and poul try research. He attended the University of Portland and Washington State University prior to entering the service. Residents Take Vacation Trips By LaVELLE PARTLOW IRRIGON Mrs. Vera Cooley returned to Irrlgon Tuesday af ter a two-month vacation with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Whitaker of Scappoose. During the summer, they ferried to Victoria, B. C, and drove on to Dawson Creek. They came back through Jasper Park where they saw lee glac iers, and spent some time in Yellowstone National Park. They drove through the Black Hills in South Dakota, and stop ped to visit relatives in Kan sas. In Mooreland, Okla., they visited the ladies' mother, Mrs. Elnora Arbogast. They visited relatives in Texas, and toured Grand Canyon, Ariz, and Glen na Canyon, Utah, before return ing home. Robert Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams, is spending a week with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Rucker and family at Kellogg, Idaho. Rev. and Mrs. Cyril McLellan, Stephen and Bruce of Spring field, Mo. spent three days with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Warner. Saturday evening, the McLcllans presented a Revival time rally consisting of special musical numbers on the violin, clarinet, and vocal ensembles at the Hermlston Assembly of God church. Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams and boys vacationed at Cape Look out on the Oregon Beach. They also toured the cheese factories at Tillamook and visited Depoe Bay. Robert Fleming of Fairbanks, Alaska, was a Monday over night guest of his uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gray beal Fleming was enroute to Arizona, where he will join his family. Custer West of Everett, Wn Is visiting his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stephens. He also visited his nephew ana niece. Mr. and Mrs Dewey West of Boardman. Larrv Allen of Salem visited his grandmother, Mrs. Bill Graybeal, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Elgin and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crane of Mc- Nary attended the White Shrine Ceremonial at Yakima Thurs day evening, Mark Adams is recuperating at his home after undergoing a tonsilectomy at the Good hhepherd hospital Wednesday. Alumni Reunion Set Sunday The annual Irrlgon Hleh school Alumni reunion will be at A. C. Houghton School on Sunday, August 21. The school will be open at 12:00 for visit ing and meal preparation, and the potluck dinner will be plan ned lor 1:00 p.m. Those attend ing are asked to bring table service. Coffee and punch will be furnished. Members of the Irrlgon As sembly of God church attended a Revivaltime rally at the Hermlston Assembly Saturday evening, with the Rev. and Mrs Cyril McLellan of Springfield, Mo., conducting the rally. Kev. McLellan is a minister of mus Ic at Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo., and conducts the choir for Revivaltime, the Assemblies' National radio broadcast. Mrs. McLellan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Har vey Warner of Irrigon. Mr. and Mrs. Tom bnyder, Ricki. Judy, KelU and Chris spent four days at the Mar-Don Resort near Moses Lake, Wash., at a Citizens' Band get-togeth er. Mrs. Myma Miller of Portland spent a week with her brother- in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Enest Jorgensen and Donald. Mrs. Jake Arndt and her two sons, Gary and A3C Richard W. Arndt of St. Paul, Minn., arrived In Irrlgon Friday to visit Mrs, Arndt's mother, Mrs. Eva An derson. AX Richard Arndt left Sunday for Kingsley Field at Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he will be stationed. Mike Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Snyder, left by bus from Pendleton Tuesday for Portland, and flew from there to Treasure Island, San Fran cisco, Calif., to begin his two years of active duty with the Navy. Snyder has been in the Naval Reserves of the Pendle ton Unit the past two years. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Eppen bach, Johnny, Betty and Don na returned to Irrigon Wednes day after a 10-day trip to Cra ter Lake and several coastal cities. Mr. and Mrs. William Monroe and two children of Vancouver Island, B. C, are spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jorgensen and Donald. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Carpen ter of Siml, Calif., spent Thurs day through Monday with her mother, Mrs. Myrtle McNamee. Mrs. Mae Young of Vancouv er, B. C.
