Many Extend Wishes n Honoring Couple At Hoskins Reception The home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoskins was the scene of a wedding reception on Sunday afternoon, August 7, honoring their newly wed son-in-law and laui'hter. Mr. and Mrs. James I.. (Halll Boor, of Portland. The couple was married Friday, July 15, at Coeur a Alene, inano, Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boor of Arling ton. Their wedding trip took them to point of Interest In Montana and Washington. A large gathering of about HO friends and relatives, many from out-of-town, came to fx- tend their greetings and best wishes to the ncwlyweds. Guests were served from a table beau tifully centered with a tiered wedding rake, decorated with pink and white roses. Serving the enke were two aunts of the hrlde, Mrs. Frances Mitchell of Portland and Mrs. Robert Hos kins of Gibbons, assisted by Miss Clnny Moore. Presiding at the punch bowl were Mrs. Stanley Robinson, Miss Martha Peterson, Mrs. Kv- erett Struckmeler and Mrs. George Griffith. The guest hook was passed by Miss Joan Storkard, and pre siding at the gift table were Mrs, Marcel Jones and Miss Marie Hosklna. Bauman home recently were Mrs. Bauman's son and daughter-In-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. Holt and five children. While here they also visited the grandmother, Mrs. l-ec Cantwell, and brought cheer to her at Pioneer Memorial hos pital. The Holt family Is moving from Drain to a new location at Oregon City, where Holt will assume prlnelpalshlp of the Park Place Grade school. He was the former principal of the Drain grade school. Couple Wed July 30 In Idaho Ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hoyhtya of lleppner are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Dolll, to Lee Hams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vester (Stub) Hams of lone. The couple was married Sat urday, July 30, In a triple wed ding at Welser, Idaho. Others In the ceremony were from Ba ker, La Grande and Portland. The newlyweds are making their home In lleppner. Mrs. Griffin Shows Steady Improvement Mrs. Jessie Griffin has return ed to her home after three weeks of traveling and conva lescence. She left Pioneer Memorial hospital July 24, and traveled to Portland July 26 with her dau ghter, Frances Griffin. After staying In Portland a week she went to Poulsbo, Wn., to visit another daughter, Mrs. Herb Case, for two weeks. Mrs. Case brought her back to Portland and Frances Griffin brought her back to lleppner where she spent another week in Pioneer Memorial hospital. HEPFNER JEWELERS Church Youth Join For Evening of Fun "Wonderful!" was the word used to describe the crowd and the evening when the Metho dlxt Youth Fellowship and the Christian Youth Fellowship combined In hosting a party for young people of local churen es at the Lexington . school grounds Sunday evening. Members of the group met In lleppner and rides were provid ed to Lexington where the en tertainment began with a soft ball game. After the game all Joined in a watermelon feed and man aged to do away with 12 of IS watermelons on hand. From the park the party moved to the Lexington Chris tian church where they finish td the evening singing at a hootenanny. Jean Stockard and Sharon Dixon accompanied the singing with guitar music. Leslie Meador and Joan Stock ard were in charge of planning the party. Guests from the Christian, Methodist, Episcopal, Catholic, Seventh-day Adventist and Assembly of God churches of this area were present and also one guest from the Mil ton Freewatcr First Christian church. Tharaday, August 11. 1966 Boschees to Vacation Along Oregon Coast A vacation trip to the Oregon coast Is planned by the Rev. and Mrs. Al Boschee and fam ily during the coming week. The family plans to spend sev eral days camping at Cape Lookout trailer park near Til lamook. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schmidt were hosts to Mrs. Schmidt's niece and husband, Lieutenant and Mrs. Harold Vaughan and four children of Monterey, Calif., from July 18 to July 21. Guest of Jill Schmidt during the early part of the summer was her cousin, Chert Snell of Chat taroy, Wn. A card mailed August 4 from Amsterdam said that they were on their second week of touring Europe and that they had seen many interesting plac es. "The country is all so green, fresh and beautiful with much progress in building and roads everywhere. We go on to the Scandinavian countries tomor row. Enjoying our vacation," the message said. Kit expects to return to Oregon this fall to go to school here. The Iiev. Mr. Dirk Rlnehart led the invocation, after which all Joined In a bountiful pot luck dinner. During the evening, members and their guests sang with Mrs. C. C. Carmlchael at the piano, played bingo, Scrabble, and cards and danced with the rec ord music of the Huston Les leys. As a special entertainment feature, Mrs. Carmlchael play ed a number on the Melodica. Over 20 members were In at tendance and several guests were present Including the Rev. and Mrs. Rlnehart and Mrs. Sara Morrow. New members, Mrs. Florence McMillan and Mrs. Bertha Hunt of Lexington, were welcomed by the club. Wisharts Entertain Out-of-town Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wlshart, Sally, Susie, Jimmy and Johnnie have been hosts during recent weeks to several groups of vis itors. July 13. overnight guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Steven son of Seaside who are relatives of Mr. Wlshart. On July 22, Mrs. Wishart's aunt, Mrs. Cecil Post and her children of Las Cruces. New Mexico, stopped hero on a trip to Hood River where they met Mrs. J. M. Flesher, mother of Mrs. Post and grandmother of Mrs. Wlshart. to drive Mrs. Flosher back to New Mexico. Mrs. Flesher had been unable to get a plane flight home because of the airline strike. Other visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Butterfield, Mr.. Wishart's uncle and aunt of Hood River, who stayed over night Wednesday, July 28. The Gontys and the Farras have celebrated their joint birthdays for several years, both in August and in March, when Ed Gonty and Jim Farra had their birthdays, before Jim left Heppner for service in the U, S.
