Dirt League to Play Faculty at Benefit A full evening of basketball is scheduled Tuesday evening. February lo, at the Heppner High school gymnasium, with proceeds to go to the March of Dimes. It will be sponsored by the junior and senior classes. The Dirt League, an organized high school team of juniors and seniors, will play against the high school faculty for a regu lation game, starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission of 25c lor students and 50 cents for adults will help build the funds for the March of Dimes. on the Prospectors' home court. Three Heppner boys scored in double figures, with Jon ODon nell canning 18, Dean Kindle 15. and Gary Kemp 12 points. Calvin Ashbeck added seven and Monte Evans four. This week's game with Ar lington was a reversal from the overtime loss the Mustangs suf fered from their hosts earlier this season. Coach Don McClure used every boy on his squad for at least one quarter and 12 of the 13 players landed in the scoring column. Calvin Ashbeck dropped in 14 points, Gary Kemp contributed 11, and Dean Kindle made sev en to lead the scoring, with nine other boys, including newcomer David Huber. adding the re maining 22 points. Each lad will shoot 50 attempts In the afternoon, with the four best advancing to the evening finals. Thc overall winner will receive an all-expense paid trip with the OSU Beavers to the Washington State and Wash ington games by chartered air plane on February 23 and 26. Some 15,000 youngsters from across the state compete annu ally for the first place award. Pat won the local champion ship sponsored by Heppner Elks lodge No. 358 when he hit 38 out of 50 tries. The eighth grader and his parents will make the expense paid trip to Corvallis with the compliments of the Elks. They will be guests at a noon lunch eon on the OSU campus and at the Stanford game.
