PH. 676-9921 Buchanan Named To Tax Committee Appointment of Martin H. Bu chanan of Milton-Freewater to the legislative tax study com mittee has been announced by Senate President Harry D. Boi vin of Klamath Falls. Buchanan will replace Austin Dunn of Baker who has served as a member of the committee since its inception, and who re cently resigned. Buchanan, a Democrat, serv ed on the Oregon Liquor Control Commission for seven years. He Is now a director and chairman of a grain growers cooperative, and has been a school board member. Created bv the 1965 Legisla ture and chairmaned by Sena tor Gene Stadler of Eugene, this permanent 11 man committee is studying the problems of tax ation of the state, counties, cit ies and municipalities. It will make recommendations to the 1967 and subsequent legislative sessions. Studies Include suit able sharing of tax burdens and benefits, basic changes and new sources of revenue, efficiency in tax administration and other facets of Oregon's increasing tax problems.
