holiday dances.
The "Dante" Gene Heliker's
local band will be playing De
ecmber 22 at Hermlston In the
atholic rarlsh Hall. Charging

will play from 9:00 till 12:00
midnight.
The "Dartell Five" of Pendle
ton will furnish the music for
the Rainbow Girl's Christmas
dance. Monday. December 27
The IOOF Hall has been the

HHS Freshmen
After stumbling through a
slow start, the Greater Dirt
league caught fire and romped
to an easy victory over the HHS
freshmen. 49-32, last Saturday.
This was the first game of the
year for the Dirt League, a
groun of local boys that are not
out for organized basketball.
David Matheny led GDL with
15 points followed by Roger
Leonnlg and Rick Johnston with
12 each. Pacing the frosh was
Jon O'Donnell with 11.

Tree Sales Aid
FFA Activities
Helping the city get prepared
for Christmas, Heppner High's
FFA boys ventured to the moun
tains December 11 to gather
Christmas trees.
The boys collected an esti
mated 150 trees for their an
nual sale. The trees are still on
sale In the vacant lot across
from Jack Van Winkle's Service
Station.
In cutting the trees, the boys
were aided by lour picKups
owned by the members of FFA
and also a truck owned by Doug
Drake.
Proceeds finance the annual
FFA banquet and other activl-
ties of the year.

travel to Pilot Rock for a return
match with the Rockets. Hepp
ner won the first game 59-51 on
the local floor but Pilot Rock is

Mrs. Vi Lanham has received
strobe she ordered for her

bv the school. Thanks to her
cooperation this strobe will be
used with the school camera to
take Indoor pictures of games
and other school activities.
