Houghton beginner and Junior bands presented concert at the Monday evening PTA meeting, under the dtrec tion of Al Reeves. The beginner band played assorted exercises by John Kinyon, and the Junior band presented a variety ot numbers. In the business session pre ceding the concert, PTA officers elected for the next school year are: Mrs. Konaid black. Board- man, president; Mrs. Benjamin Pourier. Irrigon. vice president; Mrs. Shirley Zielinskl. Board- man, secretary, and Mrs. Ewald Ritzer, Irrigon. treasurer. Follow In? the band concert, cookies, coffee and punch wer cserved to the audience. The city budget committee met at the council room Tues day evening, and approved the city budget for fiscal year 1906., A public hearing will be held at the council room on May 11. 7:30 p.m.. for the purpose of adopting the budget. There will be a meeting at the old Irrigon school building Tues day. May 4. at 7:30 p.m, to de termine how many men would be interested in attending school sessions in Pendleton on volunteer fire fighting. All men of the community are urged to attend. Patricia Stephens of Umatilla was an overnight guest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Ern est Stephens, Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Snyder and family attended a Citizens Band club at Columbia Park in Kenne wick Sunday afternoon. The "Gospel Evangelaires," a ladies evangelistic team, will hold a service at the Irrigon Assembly of God church Fri day evening, April 30, at 7:30 pjn. The ladies will present special music, and will show pictures taken on their Alaskan tour. Mrs. Vernon Dillon accompan ied Mrs. Stan Turner of Hermis- ton on a trip to Mansfield. Ohio, where they visited relatives of Mrs. Turner, and on to Lexing ton. Ky where Mrs. Dillon met an aunt for the first time. The two ladies returned home through St. Joseph. Mo., and Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Merle St John of Umatilla called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Ritzer and family and Mrs. Alice Smith Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Elgin and Ronald returned to Irrigon after taking a trip to Burlington, Iowa, where they vsited Elgin s folks Mr. and Mrs. George Elgin, and Mt. Pleasant. Iowa, where they visited Mrs. Elgin's father. L. E. Conard. and other relatives. Menus at A. First National Bank of Ore gon's earnings for the first auar ter of 1965 approached the rec ord established during the first quarter or 1964, at was announc ed by Ralph J. Voss, president. Voss also revealed the bank established new all time records in deposits, loans and resources. Compared with the first quar ter of 1964, deposits climbed more than $114 million to a new high of $1,133,123,802. They al so exceeded the December 31, 1964 total which was $1,132,979, 988. The bank's 101 statewide offices reported loans outstand ing on March 31 of $699,146,049, a gain of more than $57 million over the last March total of $641,934,895 and also $20 million greater than year end figures. Resources continued to top the $1 billion mark with a record total of $1,261,449,566.
