Bauman Bill Snvder who added 10 each. Saturday the Mustangs made the long trio to Enterprise with out Mac Hosklns, who was ill. and the big bov's heighth was sorely missed. Enterprise con trolled the boards and this was a factor in the Savages' win. Fabulous shooting paid off too. as the home team shot a from the field and 69 in the second half. Bill Strohm opened up the game with the first of a 19-point total. Not to be outdone, the Mustangs came back on Gene Heliker's Jumper from the side The lead see-sawed back and forth, but it was Enterprise who ended on top as the first quarter finished. 1614. The Savages opened up the split in period number two but not until the last minute. With :58 left Mark Bennett hooked in a layin and 46 seconds later Larry Aschenbrenner added a tip. and the home boys claimed a 31-23 halftime lead. The Enterprise boys jumped to a big lead in the third stanza, tn front at times by as much as 10 points. With this big bulge to coast on. thev were never challenged until the last minute. The Savages withheld the on slaught to claim the victory. Strohm and Ensminger had 19 each for the home team and Heliker paced the Mustangs with 14. Vr , , j r j-j m lone High slipped two notches in their fight for the Umatilla Morrow League crown as they were downed twice over the week-end, losing to Riverside of Boardman, 73-56, and being whipped by Weston, 61-55 in overtime Saturday night. The Cards now are in fifth In the league with a 7-5 mark. Riverside's tremendous shoot ing from the field gavp them a 34-27 advantage at the half. They shot .560 from the field while lone was shooting at a .400 clip. Riverside rebounded well against the Cards and turn ed in a fine performance at the foul line, hitting 13 of 21. lone shot eight for 16 free throws. Jay Ball led the Cards with 14 and Dennis Gronquist led five River side scorers in double figures with 18 points. lone opened up a 10-point split at the half of Saturday night's game, 30-20, but went stone cold while Weston got hot in the third quarter. Weston held the Cards to a mere seven points while collecting 17 themselves. The two teams held their own in the final period, and the score was tied 60-all at the end of four. Weston drew first blood In the overtime and it was never a doubt after that. The Tigers out-rebounded lone, 59-46, and also outshot the Cards .290 to .280. Coach Gene Dock ter praised lone for their fine defensive game and also held high esteem for B. Turney of Weston.
