Little League action Is fast
and furious this week as the
pint-sized diamondmen get 6et
for the stretch drive in the pee

dotted the schedule last week as
the second -half crown race re
mained wide open.
Wednesday, June 24, the Dod
irers stood firm against a strong
sixth inning rally by the Braves
to whip them. 11-10. The Braves
scored four runs in the bottom
of the sixth and had another run
in scoring position when their
last man was retired to end the
game. Duffy was the winning
pitcher and Pettyjohn the loser.
June 25. the Giants helped
their cause by outlasting the i In
dians. 5-4 in another tight con

top of the sixth failed to clinch
the game for the blue and white.

touched for the loss. Marquardt
smacked a home run for the
losers and Stephens helped his

one for the winners.
Friday, June 26, the Dodgers
lowered the boom on the Giants
as they tripped the first-half
winners. 6-5. The Giants scored
four runs in the final frame but
couldn't overcome the Dodger
lead. McCabe hurled the win
and Van Matter was touched for
the loss. . , .
Monday, the Dodgers. trounced
the Giants again, this time by a
wider margin as they thumped
the Dodgers, 8-3. The Giants
held a brief 1-0 lead in the third
inning, but faded as the Dod
gers scored three in the third.
From that point, the winners
coasted to the victory. McCabe
again pitched the win. Stephens
was charged with the Joss.
Tuesday evening, the Indians
went on a scoring spree to down
the Braves. 12-6. in a battle that
saw the winners on top all the
way from start to finish. Kil
kenny hurled the win and help
ed his cause with a home run
blast in the fifth inning. Wat
kins took the loss on the mound
for the Braves.
