City Plans Discussed At Combined, Meetings Two combined meetings of the City Council and the City Plan ning Commission were held here Tuesday of last week. At the afternoon session Bill Johnson ox Seattle, Wn., of the firm of Cor nell. Howland. Hayes and Merry field, and Wayne Harris of Pen dleton met with Mayor Dewey West, Joe Tatone, president of the council. Arthur Allen, chair man of the Urban renewal agency, and Vernon Russell, president of the planning com mission. Harris, who is doing the platting of the new town, gave the group a progress report and indicated that the platting could be filed by July 15. At the evening meeting all members of the council and planning commission met with Bill Donner and Owen Combes from the Corps of Engineers at Walla Walla. Wn., and M. D. Van Valkenburgh, city attorney from The Dalles, to discuss the contract between the corps and the city. Mayor West stated that they hoped to have the contract all lined out within a week. Mrs. Delmer Hug was hostess for the Altar Society of St. Mary's church last week at her home, with Mrs. Vernon Russell and Mrs. Bob Sicard as co-hostesses. Plans were made for the child ren's choir picnic and wiener roast to be held June 3 on the river. All children were to meet at the church at 2:30 P.m. Future meetings will be held the last Tuesday of the month instead of Monday, with the next one to be at the home ot Mrs. George Sicard June 30.
