Frank Anderson, Executor Mahoney and Abrams Attorneys for Executor Heppner, Oregon (9-12C) Men Entertain Mothers, Girls At Church Affair By DELPHA JONES LEXINGTON Men of the Lex ington Christian church were hosts to a delightful evening of entertainment for a group of 54 women and daughters of the church and community Satur day evening. The evening started with a delicious pancake feed followed by a program with Mrs. C. C. Jones as the master of ceremony. Opening prayer by Mrs. Earl Soward was followed by a minute of silent prayer, then all sang the doxology. Mrs. Carl Marquardt was in troduced and gave a welcome, with Miss Glenda Hills giving the response. Following this the oldest mother present, Mrs. Roy Campbell, received a corsage Corsages were also presented to the youngest mother, Mrs. Vic Groshens, and to Mrs. Charles Colley who found the lucky number under her plate. The mothers then introduced them selves and their daughter or their "adopted" daughter. The guest speaker, Mrs. William Piper of Hermiston, then talked on "Family Love and Sharing." After the dinner the men were introduced who had helped in the kitchen and all attended a movie, "Christian Faith in a Confused World." Also present was Rev. Piper of Hermiston. Mr. and Mrs. Piper are serving the Hermiston Christian church un til a permanent minister arrives. Both are long time friends of Rev. and Mrs. Earl Soward, hav ing attended school together. Mr. and Mrs. Max Breeding of Portland, and Mrs. Lola Breed ing were dinner guests on Sun day of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones and Mrs. Florence McMillan were business visitors a couple of days last week. Mrs. Florence McMillan is spending a few days in Pendle ton with her daughter and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cool. Mrs. Vida Hclikcr of lone, Ta mona HEC chairman, has an nounced that Mrs. A. F. Majeske and Mrs. Billy Klinger have won first prize in the Grange dress contest and two dresses will be sent to State for stato 1udg ing May 20. Mrs. Klinger and Mrs. Majeske sent dresses rep resenting the Lexington Grange. Laddie Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Henderson, is spending two weeks with his parents before receiving over seas duty assignment in the U. S. Army Secret Service Div ision, Army Chief of Staff Dept. Mr. Henderson has been attend ing school in Fort Gordon, Ga., for the last three months. Mr. and Mrs. Butch Eaten were Lexington visitors over the week-end. They motored to Pen dleton on Sunday where they met Mr. Eatch's father, Jack Eaten, and all returned to Lex ington where they spent Sun day. Miss Marilyn Morgan of lone motored to Iono with them on Sunday for a visit with her parents. Mr. E. E. Peck and children Joyce and George were Portland visitors one day last week. Sunday the Lexington Christ ian church will be favored by Miss Evelyn Jepsen daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jepsen of lone, who attends Northwest Christian College in Eugene. She will be accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rlekard also of North west Christian College who will speak. Following there is a pot luck dinner planned at 1. Lee Padberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Padberg, has return ed home from an appendectomy at Pioneer Memorial hospital. Keith Peck of Portland spent Monday at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Peek.
