HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES. Thursday. April 1G. 19B4 County Court Proceedings County Court met in regular session on March 4, 1964. The minutes of the previous term were read and approved. Sadie Parrish, Co. Clk, was ap pointed Budget Officer. Easements were to be obtained from Mrs. Kristensen and John Voile for road right-of-ways. The Court agreed to accept the Corps of Engineers offer to allow the cost of hard surfacing of Wilson road, from Olson road to Paul Smith Road, Boardman. Ernest E. Jorgensen, Irrigon, and Vernon Russell, Boardman, were appointed to the County Planning Commission. PACIFIC NORTHWEST BELL ((A) By MARTHA MATTESON MONUMENT Mrs. Rex Dick and Mrs. Hattie Rebenstorf drove to Pendleton to meet Miss Penny Dick who attends college at Lewis-Clark Normal in Lewiston, Ida., and Miss Teresa Pounder, Mrs. Rebenstorf's niece, who at tends college In Washington. The girls stayed here a week. Mr. and Mrs Ansel Martin and two sons of Prineville spent Sun day visiting their relatives here. Harold Llppert has been work ing for Fred Hanson on his Cherry Creek ranch at Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Grassel of Prineville visited Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Reeta Hinton and friends. Fred Cox of John Day spent Tuesday here visiting old friends and doing some cleanup work at the cemetery. Rev. Gary Edson and Mayn- ard Hamilton' drove to Pendle ton Saturday to attend a Pres byterian church meeting to dis cuss the new minister for the John Day Valley parish of Mt. Vernon, Dayville and Monument. There is another meeting Mon day evening at Dayville to vote on it. Mrs. Gene Vaughn and small children drove to Pendleton last Thursday to visit her daughter, Mrs. Linda Roberts, and child ren. Danny Jones returned home with her after seeking employ ment in Pendleton. Mrs. Rex Dick drove to Port land Sunday, taking Miss Sally Dick who will enlist in the U. S. Air Force. She will go to Texas from Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Neal and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ncal visited in Portland at the home of the Earl Hansons, then drove out to McMinnville to visit a grand mother, Belle Neal, who is in the McMinnville General hospital af ter a fall that broke some ribs and some bones in one leg. Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Throop of Dayville visited Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hinton. D. L. Matteson of Milton Freewater spent the week-end here visiting his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matteson. Frank Elder spent Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matteson and ob served his birthday on that day. Mrs. btella MeCarty, Janet Lewis and Dixie Reynolds were hostesses Friday evening at the Reynolds home for a pink and blue shower held in honor of Mrs. Leonard (Mattie Louise) Osborne. She received many lovely presents from the 31 guests present. Charles Williams drove to Prineville Saturday for his wife and two children who had been visiting her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Plank of Long Creek and friends were in Monument Sunday doing some rockhounding. Mamie Kergorson is home again for the summer. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Erma Fer person, is with hor. The PTA held a cooked food sale Friday at Beyer's store to raise money for gym suits for the grade school. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Howell of Mt. Vernon were callers Sun day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howell. Mary Llppert took Maynard Hamilton to Heppner Tuesday on business. The American Legion auxil iary will hold its regular meet ings on Thursday evening, then the Legion Birthday Party on Saturday night, April 18, in, the Legion hall. Dick Williams brought his niece, Miss Ronda Williams, to visit for a while from her home near Prineville. Kinzua News Mrs. Evelyn Smith entertained the members of the Auxiliary card club Friday evening at her home. High for pinochle was won by Virginia Sitton, low by Marge Boring, and floating by Virginia Kelso. High for bridge was won by Arlene Schroeder. Others enjoying this evening were Lucille Bird, Pat Hyatt, Vi Slinkard, May Bell, Meridel Wham, Jolene Guinn, and Marie Wall. Mr. and Mrs. Perle Anderson returned last Saturday from a trip that took them to Utah. In Clearfield, they visited Mrs. An dersons aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hopson and in Salt Lake City, they visited Mr, and Mrs. Leonard Holden. Enroute home they visited Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fisher at Mt. Vernon. The Fishers formerly lived at Camp 5. Then on Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson left for Crescent City, Calif., to visit their son and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ander son. Going to Prineville Friday to attend the "Grand Old Opry" were Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Med lock, John and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mortimore, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris and son Kenneth. The Medlocks visited at the Scott Reeds, the Morti mores visited the Robert Steph ens, and the Norris' visited Mr. Norris family, all in Prineville. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph James and son David left Friday for Dorris, Calif., to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Copeland and family. Mrs. Slim Rhoton and Mrs. Frank Ferrel went to Condon and Heppner Friday for business and shopping. Mike Michels and Bob Kyle were business visitors to Pendle ton on Saturday. Mrs. Frank Ferrel left Monday morning for Portland to keep a medical appointment and to bring home her son, Robert, who was recently released from Port land Sanitarium after surgery.
