Editor Phone 676-5885 Ceremony To Join Couple at Nuptial Mass on April 4 Miss Lorraine Leonnig, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Leon nig, and Francis Rea, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clell Rea of lone, will exchange vows at a nuptial mass at 11:00 A. M., . Saturday, April 4, in St. Patrick's Catholic church. The bride-elect was graduated from Heppner High school with the class of 1963. She is presently an employee of Pacific North west Bell in Portland. Her fiance was graduated from lone High school in 1961 and attended Eastern Oregon College at La Grande for two years. Since then he has been working at the fam ily ranch near lone and plans to further his education at Blue Mountain College in Pendleton this fall. Families of both the bride and groom take this means of extend ing to friends a cordial invita tion to attend the wedding and the reception that will follow at St. Patrick's parish hall. Episcopal Women Plan Easter Monday Party An evening of fun, fellowship and good food is promised by the Episcopal Church Women's organization when they sponsor their annual Easter Monday Card Party on March 30. A dessert lunch will be served at 8:00 p.m. in the Episcopal parish hall, followed by bridge and pinochle. A door prize, as well as card prizes, will be awarded at the end of the even ing. The public is cordially in vited to attend. The church is undertaking a project of remodeling the kit chen of the parish hall, and pro ceeds of the party will be used for this purpose. Mrs. Walter Wright is general chairman, as sisted by a large committee of workers. Pre-'Nuptial Shower Honors L. Leonnig St Patrick's parish hall was the scene for a wedding shower Friday evening given in honor of Miss Lorraine Leonnig. Moth ers of the future bride and groom, Mrs. Ronald Leonnig and Mrs. Clell Rea, poured from a gold tea service at a table which was decorated with floral arrange ments of salmon pink, the bride elect's chosen color. Co-hostesses, Mrs. Herb Hamil ton, Mrs. Sammy Johnston, Mrs. Pat O'Brien and Mrs. Ilene Wy man, served lime supreme party salad along with crackers, mints, and nuts to the 45 invited guests. Assisting Miss Leonnig at the gift table were her sister, Mrs. Kay Corbin, Pendleton and Miss Judy Hamilton, Heppner. Daley, entertained last Thurs day at the Laird home with a buffet dinner and kitchen show er in honor of the former Miss Shirley Van Winkle, who became the bride of Kit George on Sat urday, March 14. Mrs. Jack Van Winkle, mother of the bride, and Mrs. Elaine George, mother of the groom, as sisted the honoree at the gift table. Green ribbons, white can dles and white roses were abun dant, carrying out a St. Patrick's Day motif. Interlocking wedding rings decorated the buffet table. The puest list included Mrs. Van Winkle, and Mrs. George, mothers of the honored couple, Mrs. Mike Gray, Miss Karen Mc Curdy, Mrs. Bob Stevens, Mrs. Robert Laughlin, Miss Pat Van Winkle, Miss Irna Lynn Win chester, Mrs. David Creswick, Mrs. Bob Harrison, Miss Lorraine Leonnig and Mrs. Bill Klinger. Couples Enjoy Cards At Informal Evening Three tables of individual dup licate bridge followed a potluck supper Sunday night at the La Verne Van Marter home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Ma honey, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Driscoll and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blake. High individual score was won by Mrs. Driscoll. Mr. Fenton, a graduate of Serra Catholic High school in Salem in 1961, is completing his junior year at Oregon State Uni versity, corvauis, wnere ne is majoring in business administration. Miss Van Schoiack, a sopho more at Oregon State University, is majoring in the field of home economics. She was a graduate with the class of 1962 at Hepp ner High school. The young couple has an nounced their wedding date for June 20. Mr. Fenton is a guest this week at the Van Schoiack home while the students are havin their spring vacation. Visitor is Welcomed At Social Gathering Mrs. Roger Steiger, Derinda and Doug of Portland, were house guests last week of Mrs. Steiger's sister, Mrs. Gene Hall. Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Walter Ja cobs honored Mrs. Steiger with a bridge party one evening dur ing her stay at the Hall home. Bridge honors went to Mrs. Cres ton Robinson for high score and to Mrs. Bill Blake for second high. Evening Pinochle Club Meets at Devin Home Mrs. Oliver Devin was hostess last Wednesday when the Dealin' Dozen pinochle club met at her home for an evening of cards. High score went to Mrs. Dale Baker and Mrs. Robert Harrison had low score. The traveling pinochle prize went to Mrs. Car roll Miller. The hostess served angel food cake roll and punch amid St. Patrick's Day decorations. Her guests included Mrs. Skip Petty john, Mrs. Dick Sherer, Mrs. Cleo Childers, Mrs. Wayne Ball, Mrs. Larry Fetsch and Mrs. Perry Morter. Heppner Girl Gets Good Reception By Little Theater Group Dramatic talents of Miss Mary Shannon, daughter of Mrs. Martha King, are meeting favorable tests with a little theater production in Alameda, Calif., according, to letters and clippings received bv her mother. Mary, who has been living in Alameda since last August and working in the offices of Fibre board Paper Products Corp. in San Francisco, was given a part for a six-week's engagement on week-ends with the Alameda Little Theater group. She is playing the character part of "Miss Tacher" in the successful comedy play, "Oh, Men! Oh, Women!" and has adopted the stage name of Stephanie Shan non. Evidence of her being well received is shown through a critic's appraisal, "an individual to keep in mind the next time someone brings up the topic of comedy at the playhouse." They have chosen for their next pro duction "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," a Broadway musical. One of the honorary life mem bers f the Alameda Little Theater players is Phyllis Diller, popular TV personality. During her high school years in Heppner, Miss Shannon was active in drama and speech and is thrliled with the opportunity now of doing some stage play work. Student From TurkeV HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, March 26, 1964 Visits in Wright Home Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Litohfield of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Litchfield of Newport and Husnu Ozyegin of Izmir, Turkey, were week-end guests at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright. Joining the family for dinner on Sund.v were Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson and Tami of Arl ington. Husnu Ozyegin is a student in engineering at Oregon State University and is here on an OSU interfraternity scholarship where he is a guest of a different fraternity each term. This past term he was a roommate of Steve Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Davis of Olex, in the Alpha Gam ma Rho fraternity. Mr. Ozyegin's father is a Doctor of Medicine in Izmir, Turkey. Mrs. Gordon White of Portland visited in lone last week and took Mrs. Edythe White to Seattle where they spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. John Wehling. Mr. White and his brother, Dale, went to Port land this week to return his mother to her home. Lt. Gerrald White, formerly of lone, is now stationed at Schil ling Air Force Base near Salina, Kan., with the Air Refueling Squad, according to word receiv ed here by relatives.
