Game Lyle Cox 196 Jerry Green 190 PR The GAZETTE-TIMES Ph. 676-9228 HEPPNER Forms Mailwell Envelopes PP&L to Share Power Output At Big New Dam Customers of Pacific Power & Light Company will share In a large block of the hydroelectric output of the High Mountain Sheep multi-purpose pro j e c t which the Federal Power Com mission has licensed to be con structed on the Snake River on the Oregon-Idaho border by four Northwest electric utility com panies. Reporting on details of the granting of a license to Pacific Northwest Power Company, form ed by the four regional investor owned utilities, Pacific Power's manager said the company serv ing the local area Initially would take Into Its system serving Washington and Oregon a total of 279,000 kilowatts, or 30 per cent of the total generating cap ability. "When the power Installations are increased to their total ulti mate capability, the company's customers will share more than a half-million kilowatts of the output 558,000 kilowatts, to be exact," it was reported by F. L. Gimbel, lineman-agent for PP&L. The commission held that the High Mountain Sheep site was best adapted to a comprehensive plan of development, according to the PP&L manager. On the second phase of the case, the commission ruled that the Pa cific Northwest Power Company had statutory priority for a li cense to develop this site by vir tue of an FPC preliminary per mit. High Mountain sheep would rise 670 feet from foundation to crest and be the highest true- arch concrete structure in the world. It will have a crest reach ing 1,460 feet from bank to bank.
